im voting for Bioshock (because you can kill a splicer at 2 stories down and still have too much ammo after killing a big daddy)
Doom. It's powerful, and you can find ammo pretty much everywhere.

The shotgun in Crysis, mostly because you can actually use it past 5 feet (in the low spread mode) without the bullets shooting out of the barrel at a 60 degree angle.

Bioshock, MW2, Gears and Doom. As it has been stated, in all these, the shotgun rocks.
MW2.
Better in MW2 than any other call of duty series where you don't have to be up in their face for damage to occur. Most of it is a one shot kill without the Damage Perk.
Resident Evil 1.
Yeah, emptying your entire supply of pistol bullets into three zombies and having them stand back up again... sucks. You do not appreciate the shotgun until you've played the old biohazard games. (1,2,3)
Modern Warfare 2's very own SPAS-12.
Also Borderlands, especially if you find a hunting shotgun with a good fire-rate. Although you can use any shotgun against air-borne enemies.
Mass Effect, it's pretty awesome esp. if you put some heat sink mods on it.
Quake 3. Most of the time 2 shots to someone will kill them.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2. The shotgun has a good chance of headshotting people.
MW2: 1886 shotguns slaughter all
Half-Life 2: You can kill a Combine in one double-shot with a shotgun, 3-5 shots with an AR2.
Serious Sam.
It's the only gun you will EVER want to use.
F.E.A.R - The shotgun always stuns an enemy when you hit them with a full blast, making it handy in fast-paced firefights.
