The thing is like me and my friend have hamachi2 and i want to create a server in CS:S and have him join so i can teach him how to surf but i cant remember how to do it. Sorry i spelled hamachi wrong.
just make a server and type connect "ip" in console set sv_airaccelerate 1000
I did and my friend says it fails after four retrys.
make sure you and your friend are both in the same hamachi group and you're giving him the ip that hamachi gives you
Use Hamachi 1.0.1.5. That's the only good Hamachi version from my past experiences.
Remember to have sv_lan 0 And tell him not to join through steam friends, use either direct connect or server browser. For direct connect, tell him to type "connect (your(not his) hamachi ID here)" in the console.
This problem must give you a head achi. Make sure you are both in the same network and you give him your Hamachi IP.
Why do you need hamachi for that ? Just disable your firewall, forward ports and give your friend your external ip. Tell him to type into console "connect <ip here>" without the quotes. But if your too lazy, just disable your firewalls, launch hamachi and it should work.
Remember to set sv_lan 1 to sv_lan 0
I did and my friend says it fails after four retrys.
"Failed to connect after 4 retries" means that either A) The server one is trying to connect to doesn't exist, or B) The connect command was used incorrectly. Do not forget the ":27015" on the end.
Remember to have sv_lan 0 And tell him not to join through steam friends, use either direct connect or server browser. For direct connect, tell him to type "connect (your(not his) hamachi ID here)" in the console.
In order for one's server to show up on the browser, one's ports must be forwarded, which kinda makes Hamachi less useful/necessary. Also, for sv_lan 0 to work, one must change the map using the "map" command followed by the name of the map. sv_lan isn't the problem here, however. If it was, and your friend attempted to connect to your server, he would get a "Class C" error. Anyway, here's a link to The Geek Scape explaining how to set up a Hamachi listen server: http://thegeekescape.com/?p=71 This is where I originally learned how to do this. It explains how to do this in TF2, but it should be exactly the same for CS:S.
Use Tunngle instead
I read "Failed after four retries" and had to leave this- If you're running on a router from a modem; You must forward any ports your server is running on or any port access will be cut to clients. It's probably been said, but it couldn't hurt. [editline]11:29AM[/editline] I scratched up a little diagram if you don't know what I'm talking about. (Also in some cases routers have the DSL/CABLE decoding component of a modem built in, meaning you don't need one!)
