Sorry, but it doesn't make ANY sense. The game is boring, repetitive, simple, repetitive, no team play, shitty graphics, shitty sounds, shitty gameplay and it's repetitive too. So... What's the big deal?
Oh yeah, rate me "frowny faces" all you want, I really don't give a crap.
Agreed bro, plus the community is full of morons.

agreed
also
when did this new thread thingy start
Because they think it's fun.
Simple is not bad, necessarily.
Look at Russian weapons.
Wow! OP has the same views as me! :V
I just got it, I like it. Its simplicity is what makes it so good.
The game wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the elite community.
The community is what that killed it.
Everybody to the FP jailbreak server!
At OP: Yeah just because you don't like it, it totally wouldn't make any sense if others did.
OP, you are talking about CS 1.6 right?
The community is what that killed it.
nothing killed it, it's not dead
about CSS
CS 1.6 is god, CS:S is shit.
It's pretty fun with the right people
I like it for pissing around in, and the shit sounds do piss me off too, but at least we can easily change them. Also what do you expect graphics wise, WE ARE RUNNING THE EPISODE 1 VERSION OF SOURCE, NOT CRYENGINE 2. but the community does suck, most of them are either little kids, or elitist assholes.
It's simple, with some mods it can be very fun, and you can run it on VERY old computers.
Yes a lot of the playerbase sucks, but some people and servers are very nice.
The community is awful
A ton of communities are awful.
I don't. I hate it, mostly because EVERYONE has to use those strange ass'd ASCII letters or whatever they're called.
I love it, but that's mainly because I grief the living crap out of it with wallmaterials and love the frenchmen cry and moan over the mic about how I knew they were there.
QUE?!
basically, I hate it so I grief, I love the griefing so I theoretically love the game but that's not true so theory is lying.
I don't. I hate it, mostly because EVERYONE has to use those strange ass'd ASCII letters or whatever they're called.
Again, tons of communities.
The game itself can be fun, I don't know why everyone is all "THIS GAME FUCKING SUCKS."
I had that exact view towards the game, but that's when I played like shit. The biggest problem with CS:S / 1.6 is that it's the type of game where if you're not killing, you're not having fun. It gets frustrating when you die at the beginning of every round and then have to wait another 4-5 minutes just to get a shot, to get killed by someone who's been playing the game longer.
That being said, if you actually get good at the game, it becomes very fun.
The second issue that CS:S has is that the community can be two things: Annoying as FUCK and too good at the game.
Annoying as fuck meaning that half of the players are childish and like to go "niggerniggernigger lolumad." And being too good referring to the first part - they kill you before you even get a chance, and that's not fun.
The people that blindly hate the game are being stupid. Yes, you can play the game run and gun, but that's not going to get you far. Once you learn to stop spraying, you actually can get some good, skillful kills in. It is simple at the lowest rung - once you start playing better, things can become more complicated as you learn more tactics, how to use each weapon effectively, etc. It is repetitive, as are most FPS games.
TF2 is repetitive. Say it isn't all you want - but it is. Every game is repetitive. This is a given. What matters is how much entertainment can be taken out of that repetitive gameplay. And CS manages to pull it off.
If you guys would actually approach the game from an objective perspective and not base anything upon predetermined notions, played in a server that had a NOT shitty community, you'd actually have fun. CS:S can be a very fun game. You just need to be good enough to put up a fight, otherwise you're going to have a shit time and a boring experience.
And fyi I'm not a CS player, nor a CS fanboy. I play TF2 primarily. I began just like everyone else, saying that Counter Strike is shit. Then I played it for a few hours in a friendly server, had some laughs, and some good games.
It's not as shitty as people like to think. Stop going along the bandwagon and actually engage it.
I tried to play CS:S for 2 months, and it's still shit. I generally end up in the top 5 on a full server, and I find it still shit. Like you said before, 80% is going "niggernigger lolumad"/"lolol sparta XD u shot him in teh hole XD" and the other 20% doesn't say anything and immediately headshots you when you show your arm for 1 second.
I disagree. It's pretty fun.
Well, it's weird. It appears that half of you like it, half of you hate it. Neat. Also, I got a ton of smileys. Weirder.
Answers for most of you:
protoAuthor - I didn't say that simple is bad. I said that simple in this case is bad. (FYI I love russian weapons. AK47 ftw)
STeel - Where did I say that noone should like it. I just wanted to get an explanation. Not a CS fan explaining me that it's my fault.
killz2much - I'm talking about CS as the game itself. Not any perticular version.
hexpunK - Ok, I see that you love it, but I saw a mistake. CS doesn't use the EP1 engine. It uses the HL ONE engine. So yeah, I wasn't expecting any marvels of technology graphicwise, but appearantly it can get better. For an example look at the HL1 HD pack.
AugustBurnsRed - So can many other good games, but they still don't have that many fans.
protoAuthor - But not all games are awful. :D

I agree. I like to go in there, find a corner, and correct people and mock them w/o playing the game. It's more fun then.
It's a great game for short sessions, I rarely play anything else than scoutzknives though.
I like CS:S so much cos well of the amount of different game modes people of thought up.
Although saying that I only play it to piss people off or go on my own server.
The French have taken over the game (The only thing they can take over I see is games)
It used to be great and I played it all the time, but now newer games have come out and it's long since been forgotten by me
