So they made a Digimon Adventure RPG for the PSP...

Pretty standard fare in terms of gameplay, with 3 party members fighting in a turn-based battle, leveling, stats and the standard JRPG fare. It follows the plot of the first series quite well, down to the episode, and also includes a juicy ammount of extra content. Also, as a JRPG released in the PSP of all things and published by Namco Bandai, it quite likely won't get a export.
Then why am I even making a thread about that? Well, this (from the 1 minute mark on):

After 13 years, my childhood is complete. Smooth move Bandai, smooth move...
Shit, Digimon is still relevant? It's been a long time, old friend.
Also, got a feeling this is going to flop. I remember the last few PSP JRPGs I've seen. None of them will ever be seeing sequels or western localizations. Not anymore after their flops. The PSP and Vita are simply not viable platforms for good sales.
Apparently all of this is still alive in Japan. And, after all, for how long did the Dreamcast survive over there?

I never understood how such a techie place like Japan has a tendency to cling on to outdated and obsolete consoles for so long, never mind that the concept of PC gaming is nigh-nonexistent there. Or more importantly, why the hell handhelds are so popular butIdigress.
But really? Digimon? That's a name I haven't heard in YEARS if not at least a decade. That IP is still alive somehow?
It's somewhat alive, but not much really. It's also a series that never really got the treatment it deserved in a lot of senses, from games to anime dubbing. Unlikely this game will make it to the west.
They have been chugging out quite a bit of material for the 15th anniversary, and, even if less active that beforehand, it looks quite healthy as a franchise.
The Japanese are a weird bunch, but somewhat loveable.
