The "Driver" Series - Oh shit I can drive through a mall!

If you grew up with a PSX as a child/teen or you had a PSX when you were an adult, chances are you've played at least one of the "Driver" games. The first game I ever played as a kid was "Driver". I'm pretty sure it was, it's a tie between Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Driver, and Gran Turismo.
In the first three games in the series, you take control of a man called Tanner, a getaway driver. You receive missions ranging from destroying buildings by running into them with your car, picking up shipments of weapons and drugs from barges, and simply meeting someone across town.
Here's a list of the Driver games, with their respective cover arts.

Personally, I don't understand all the hate on Driver 3. I recently found a copy at a flea market (2 for $5 games, hell yes) and I bought it to replace the old, unusable scratched disk I had. I very truly love that game, and I don't understand why people disliked it. Sure it was buggy, but it was hilarious buggy, and the gun missions were fun as hell to just shoot shit up on your way to finish the mission.
What are your opinions on Driver? Love? Hate?
Driver: Amazing, one of the pest PS1 games ever
Driver 2: Bit off of the GTA branch more than it could chew. Still a good game. Series started going downhill.
Driv3r: the bottom of said hill
Driver: Parallel Lines: if Driv3r was the bottom of the hill then Driver: PL was that small climb that came after it. They were able to somewhat redeem the series with PL but the series is still in a state of shittyness after Driv3r
Driver 76: What?
All I remember is the near on impossible start to Driver.
Driv3r was terrible and half the game was bugs, but I'll admit I had some fun with it. Lots of fun with cheats and the video camera.
In fact, the lack of the director mode is why I hated Parallel Lines.

Couldn't beat the intro mission to Driver 1. Must've tried it a thousand times.
Tried Driver 2, but I got stuck on an early mission where you have to follow a train

Of course, all this was when I was like 8 so

Fucking this.
I had to get some 26 year old person to do it for me.
Then I finally got to play the game! :buddy:
Did anyone find it awesome to drive back and forth over this small bridge that worked like a ramp?

Jack school bus, press Circle soon as ramp was going down, FUCK YEAH.
They could've made absolutely no missions after the first level of Driver.
I would've never noticed.

I hated this fucking mission with a burning passion.

There was more than one drivable car? :raise:

In Driver 2 in Chicago there was a bridge that would go up and down and one of the cars you could jack was a school bus.
What did circle do in Driver 1 anyways?

Oh, but i'm talking about the first game.
Me and a few friends used to treat Driv3r as the videogame equivalent of laughing at terrible B-Movies. It was so easy to coax into glitching out hilariously. You could easily ramp yourself into an area with no collision detection and fall through the floor. One time I tried to jump off the back of a speedboat with low health. The guy jumps into the rear spoiler, bangs his head, and drops into the water dead. It was pathetic and yet so hilarious.

Or Nice, the fucking airport. Get cops on your tail, then launch off the ramp facing the ocean. When you hit the ground, brake and hold the brakes. Cops will come hauling ass over the ramp, hit the top of your car, bounce, and go flying into the ocean.
I remember once you recorded something in Driv3r, if you left it for awhile it would fuck up. I rewatched one of the videos once and it had Tanner running into a wall for 3 minutes.
The first level of Driver was a bastard. Fucking slalom. And you never did anything remotely the same in the whole series after it. :argh: The cheats were fucking great.
Driver 2 was good. Any level with a bomb in your car was fucking awful.
Driv3r had more shooting missions than driving ones. The only good thing was Director mode. I haven't played any of the newer ones.
Anyone remember the secret car in driver 2? The one in the underground parking lot.
The one thing I hated were the damn pedestrians and how you could NEVER EVER hit them.
I miss Driver 2. It was one of those games that me and my cousins spent most of our time playing. I remember driving for hours finding hidden things. I also remember some cheat thing where you had to find a message. While I was reading the cheat, I kept reading "message" as "massage" so it was like, you will see a door to your right, enter it to get a massage.
Driver 2 was the shit, lost many adolescent hours due to that game.
Driv3r is a game that I very much love so too. The glitches are there sure but that had nothing on the director mode, making classic Bond-inspired car chases and showing them off to my gob-smacked friends :smug:.
As soon as I got GTA IV on PC, I tried my best to remake my cop movie from Driv3r. Didn't turn out quite as nice.

I probably spent more time playing with the replay thing more than I did actually playing driver :v:
Driver 1 was fuckin' awesome. I treated it like a driving simulator - I mean, the car had working turn signals and everything!
I don't know HOW many hours I poured into Driver 2, sitting infront of my PS2 all day and night and just exploring the city. It was the GTA3 before it was even released!
When I was >10 years old, I found out that I could play in "Take a Ride" with the carnage car physics by watching the carnage replay and then going into take a ride. Crash the shit into everyone. :swoon:
Only works on the PC though.
Oh god nostalgia, I remember playing Driver 2 with my brother a lot man I miss those good ol' days. Also I never could hit those pedestrians!! :argh:
I loved Driver 76, crazy blaxploitation and a lot of jive ass turkeys
I had to get my brother to do the driver intro every damn time.
In Driv3r I only played Take A Ride with cheats.

I abused the grenade launcher.
