Now, this is something I'm pretty ashamed to admit.
I'll start by telling you a bit of my gaming history. For most of my life, I've played consoles. Starting about 3 or 4 years ago, I got into computer gaming. I still play both, but I completely believe that computer games are better.
Now, I've never had any trouble playing a game on a console through to completion. Back in the PS2 days, I played CoD: Big Red One at least 30 times, no exaggeration. (BROOKLYN!) I have a 360 now, and i'll sit at it and beat a game without hesitation.
Here's the problem: I can rarely bring myself to finish a game on the PC. Here's a list of PC games I own but haven't beaten:
ArmA
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Evil Genius
FarCry
HL: Blue Shift
HL: Opposing Force
Sniper Elite
Ben There, Dan That
Time Gentlemen, Please
C&C Generals
GRAW 2
Halo 2
I'll get interested, but I always end up uninstalling it for some reason. I'm truly ashamed of this, and wish I didn't do it.
Does anyone have any motivational ideas to help? Do any of you have this problem? I just feel like such an ass. :frown:
I think it may be because I don't have a computer of my own, really, but I play games on our family desktop, which is in our kitchen, which is slightly uncomfortable when people are just walking around.
There are a lot of games that I've ended up not finishing either. If I'm not hooked within a half hour, I'll usually stop playing, or if I find it very boring half way through, I might stop as well.
Playing on the family computer is probably the problem.
I partially have the same problem but I'd blame it on just being uncomfortable. If you get a console controller port for your computer and sit on a couch or something might help to finish them.
I can never finish ANY role-playing game I start, either, but I like them.
If I find myself getting bored of a game I just switch it to easy and power through and finish.
Hey, i never finished Evil Genius either, got to the part where you must collect pieces for a doomsday device or something and never found the last 3 parts.
The solution i found to this problem is simple, simply quit playing the game and go play other games, eventually you are going to miss it and go back finish it, though you might fell like starting a new game because you forgot how to play the game, just don't do that, ever, and eventually you will beat the game. That's how i beat JRPGs anyway, damn japanase makes their games too long.

I find that I have the highest chance of finishing RPGs. Probably because they're story driven, and I want to know how it ends.
I usually cheat my way through on most of the games I used to play. Of course, I was 12 when I played single-player computer games.
OP, you should beat Brothers in Arms. It's a damn good game.[/offtopic]
I still haven't beaten KOTOR because I can't fucking redeem bastila. I made the wrong choice of words but I didn't realize that until I had saved JUST before the final conversation between you and bastila take place. (The part where you can persuade her to go over to the light side) I've tried persuading her maybe 400 times but still no luck. I refuse to kill her >:(
I find myself doing the exact same thing.
I have a feeling I'll never beat Demon Soul's.
I'm ashamed to admit I've never beaten Half Life 2 or even touched episode 1 and 2
I got really into DA:O yet still have 2 parts of the main quest left
I haven't even touched Mass Effect
Didn't play Portal yet either
Have hardly played Stalker: SHoC
Oh barely have playen Borderlands either.
My issue? I for some reason get sidetracked by multiplayer games and begin playing those instead. Even something as shitty as CoD:MW2 gets me sidetracked dammit
But one of these days.. dammit I'll beat them all..

You can't beat it anyways.
OP, the only games on that list worth finishing are Brothers in Arms and Opposing Force
I still haven't brought myself to beat:
Half-Life
Opposing Force
Cryostasis
Prey
Bioshock
Any Silent Hill
Aquaria
I-Fluid
Condemned
Call of Cthulhu
American McGee's Alice
Overlord
Morrowind
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Mass Effect
Risen
Neverwinter Nights 2
Prototype
Dragon Age
Torchlight
Twilight - The Masquerade Bloodlines
Grand Theft Auto IV
or any of the STALKER games.

Don't play that game.
Play Twilight - The Lone Werewolf
I still have some 50-odd games that I haven't beaten yet. The Backloggery helps me keep track of what I have left.
It's the other way around for me. I always finish PC games but rarely finish console games. The last game I finished was Assassins Creed 2 but because it was really awesome, before that the last game I finished escapes my mind. Probably Jak 2 for PS2 a while back.

Ah yes, I love that site.
-snip-
I think the only game I've ever wanted to beat but never could was Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth. Friend took my Xbox copy. Don't even remember how far I've gotten in it.
I can't push myself to finish World of Goo
FUCK YOOOOOOOU
I haven't finished about fifty of my games because of all of the replayable/open ended games I own, it sucks.
In ARMA 2 I have spent 23 hours dicking about in the editor and ten minutes of playing the campaign.
In GRID I liked crashing into stuff but disliked racing so I made little to no progress.
I have not finished any Dawn of War game (Except for the second one), because I only played skirmishes and multiplayer.
I spent five minutes playing Evil Genius, Sin Episodes: Emergence and Rome Total War.
I just plain lose interest in many games I own, even if I thought they were fun I never get around to playing some of them, Yet I am on my fifth playthrough of STALKER, my forth playthrough of Mass Effect, my third playthrough of Oblivion, my third playthrough of Fallout 3 and my second playthrough of Dragon Age Origins.

I almost finished that game, but I got a new computer and didn't have the will to start over again.

Overall I have only finished about two of the strategy games I own, and I own alot of them.

Same here, I mean, I LOVE Borderlands but I'm only level 25 or something. Hell, I recently started playing BC1 on my ps3 again, I thought that I was the highest rank or around it but I noticed that I was barely half way through to the highest rank. :v:
Still.. my games last a long longer than most people who just play them until the disc starts to burn, beating the game in a few days.
