I have recently gotten back into Warhammer on the PC and my buddy wanted to have a few battles with me. He uses the Eldar and we have a 30 cap mod. We play on Kaurav City. No matter what race i use, his Eldar rip my asshole inside out. All his structures are cloaked and his troops are so strong that any anti-infiltration units are destroyed within seconds even with a strong attack force. Meanwhile my base is undefended because it requires my entire army to kill his wraithlords, he walks into my base and takes it down. Even though it contains every turret the race offers. I do not know how to beat him. Any you guys play Warhammer, and maybe have a little advice to deal with the overpowered clusterfuck known as Eldar?
Have you tried to actually harass him? What do you do early game? From the looks of it you play extremely passively.
Soulstorm is a shit game and theres no tactics involved
I'd suggest going IG and making liberal use of psykers.
Soulstorm is bad and you should feel bad. Dark Crusade or nothing.
A known tactic is to simply not give enough time for him to reach Tier 2, early harassment is essential, build your hero unit as fast as possible and go for recently-captured resource points before the Listening Posts are built and/or upgraded, do that and don't attack the main base unless you know his entire early troops are outside of it, keep your hero, do some "dancing" (go in circle firing while running around targets until your health restores, most of the time anyway that's what dancing is, not always though). The Eldar expend fast early due to the teleportation ability of their worker units, and they can teleport to grand distances, if the Eldar player isn't stupid he/she usually builds early Webway Gates at roughly the middle of the map, between his base and yours, somewhere not very obvious of course, and does the research to cloak it/them as fast as possible and will amass an early army there, and will be able to switch locations very fast between his base (if he has Webgate Gates as well in it, and usually Eldar players have many in their main base) and that secret location.
Anyway, the best thing to do against a good Eldar player, or perhaps any Eldar players to that matter is to harass them early, very early, when the game starts train no more than two scouting squads, sometimes just one could suffice (especially if the map is small), then build a Power Generator and send your first scouting troops to the nearest resource point to capture, in the meantime build your infantry structure and train your hero unit. If you can attach the hero unit to a squad then do it and attach the hero to the first squad you trained, or the second one if the first is already away to capture another point by that moment. With the hero, alone or not, go harass the enemy but be careful, do micromanagement and retreat back to the nearest secure location if under attack. If you harass the enemy regularly and put pressure regularly on him then his ability to "multi-task" will be decreased, because your enemy will know he has to pay more attention to the surroundings of his own controlled territory and won't be able to calmly do researches and prepare his army while nothing under his command is ever harassed.
So if you do harass him regularly it will basically just piss him off, possibly will force him to forget about a few upgrades and structures and should ultimately reduce the number of troops or at least their efficiency. Keep in mind that everything I suggest here must not last too long, I'm always referring to early game here, before vehicles start to come out basically, that's before Tier 3. I personally prefer the Necrons against the Eldar since the Necron Lord can be a real bugger even alone, he can teleport without upgrades right from the start, so doing hit-and-run surprise attacks early in a game is perfect with him, same thing goes with the Orks and the first hero unit you can train from the infantry structure, while on the other hand the Eldar Farseer is very fragile and should normally be attached to a squad to venture around, if you get the Necrons it shouldn't be too dangerous to even try to attack the Farseer a few hits and then teleport away, just to piss him off a bit.
Conclusion:
1) Don't give him time to expend, harass early-game. 2) Don't build too many scouting troops, no more than two squads. 3) Train your hero unit to harass, don't go for the main base unless you're sure of your plan. 4) Try to build Listening Posts on the captured points that you happen to capture away from your main base, because if the enemy also harass you early then he should normally not try to harass the resource points near your base, the enemy will usually go for the points in the middle of the map, so leave the very early-captured points alone near or in your base, and send your worker(s) to build a Listening Post to a point farther away, which in turn also gives you a place to go back to if your harassing needs a rest, if that LP is upgraded with a turret then that's where you want to rest after your harassment is done.
If with this you manage to reach Tier 3 (vehicles, basically) then tactics will change, a lot, and I don't have much time to explain them at the moment. From what I can tell your Eldar enemy is an early expansionist, I might be wrong of course there's not much info, but at least give a try to the well-known and classic early game harassment. And to repeat myself, to attack the Eldar early and put regular pressure I personally prefer the Necrons or the Orks, but the early harassment works with all races, you just need practice, trials and errors. On a side note Sousltorm is fine, I do prefer Dark Crusade, but if you play Soulstorm like I do regularly enough try to get the unofficial patch installed, you and your friend so you guys can play on-line (never tried myself but I'm sure it would work if both of you get it). It's available for download somewhere at the Relic forums I can't remember the link by heart though, if you want it I'll look for it and come back here and post it. That unofficial patch needs to be installed after both official ones, and it works as a modification basically. Anyway, with that patch Soulstorm is almost as good as Dark Crusade and the best advantage is that you get to play as or against the Dark Eldars which I myself like a lot. I don't like the Sisters of Battle much though.
Space Marine rush
Force Commander, 3 scout squads 1 space marine squad early game.
Don't give the fucker any time.
SPUSSSS MARHINEEESSSSS ADDDACK.
seriously, i would rush with 2 squads of space marines. one with a hero. have one squad anti armor, one with anti light soldiers.
but i ave only played to Dark crusade. so i don't know how the eldar are.
you can always rush with necrons with a necron lord.
If he sends out the Avatar, send out your FC, librarian, Chaplin, and all your Apothecaries to fight it in melee combat. They all get a massive damage bonus against Daemons, and that's what the Avatar counts as.
I bought the whole game series and from what I've competed against, eldar are horribly easy to kill.
Try to go necron if you have dark crusade. Necrons are strong and they do a whole shitload of damage, IMO

What race are you playing? I'm fairly competent with Chaos and Space Marines in 1v1s
You can learn a lot by going to www.dawnofwar.tv and watching some of the videos there
I always lose because I find early harassment so boring and wastes my resources

The Eldar were in DoW1 already, the only difference is the flying vehicles, wich are crap anyway...
Try to harras him as early as possible, the eldar units are weak without some upgrades.
