I just finished playing Crysis 2 on the PC. What a crock of shit. The game is dumbed down to hell, or "streamlined", as morons would put it. Instead of having armor as your default mode and being able to select cloak, speed, and strength, you can only choose between armor and cloak, and both drain power. You also have no option of sprinting without using up suit power. Out of power? Too bad, I guess you'll slowly have to walk behind a wall, if you even make it. The game's visuals are about as realistic as Killzone 2, in that every single thing that has some sort of glossiness to it, or even remotely reflects light, has to leave some sort of post process bullshit trace on your screen. Instead of dedicating processing power to things that actually contribute to the visuals, it's spent on cheap camera effects that only fool kids and console gamers into thinking it's something worth looking and be amazed at. Unlike Crysis 1, this game assumes you're a complete moron and literally tells you what options you've got when getting into a new area, and even those options are few. In the first game you could tackle any situation however and from whatever angle you desired, as there were no bounds in the level. The only boundaries were natural things, like steep cliffs. In Crysis 2, expect to encounter many invisible walls. In the first game no place was really safe, any shack, hut, roof, or wall could be brought down with a grenade, an explosive, or a car that was driven into it. This is what made it fun, because it brought these factors into play. Anyone who tells you that Crysis 1 was boring is because they were too stupid to do anything other than running and gunning, they weren't imaginative enough to do something fun with the tools given to them. In Crysis 2, only things that are predetermined to be destroyed are destroyable. Running and gunning becomes your only way to play. Shooting a barrel and throwing it on a target to blow it up came natural in the first game. In Crysis 2 such things become a chore, because as I wrote in the first part, the suit has been severely nerfed. Nothing you throw goes much further than 10 yards, and it also drains all of your suit power. So much like the game itself, Nanosuit 2 is an inferior design to the first. It's almost poetic. Who's to blame for this mediocrity? It would be easy to throw the blame on console gaming, as PC games in almost all cases do become dumbed down when there is a console version being made simultaneously. But ultimately it is the game developers who go "this is good enough", and decide to put out such horrid crap. One thing that was constantly on my mind while playing the game and encountering many little nitpicks was, "I wish I was playing the first one". Truth is, the many nitpicks which I haven't mentioned, they all add up to the overall mediocre experience. Not being able to destroy something with explosives, but shooting it does the job. Horrible level design with allows you to skip entire areas if you're running through with cloak turned on. Not being able to put any attachment on any weapon, as they are all weapon specific. Not able to run fast enough, not able to jump high enough, not able to throw far enough. The list goes on. But to sum it all up, it's simply not as fun as the first game. People who haven't played the first will think it is because they haven't been spoiled. Or because they happen to be the sort of people who enjoy running and gunning. This rant went on longer than I was intending, as you can tell I'm pretty upset. If there's anything you should get or quote out of this rant, it's this: Crysis 2 would've been a superiour game had it just been a level pack on top of an optimized version of the first core game. I spit on you Crytek, I spit on you and your game. You killed one of the last good things PC gamers had. End of transmission. [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] Oh look at me, I'm so dumb for giving you my opinions. If you feel I am misinformed, how about pointing it out instead? I just realised I haven't told you what I thought about the story. There is something that resembles a story, unfortunately it's mostly told through the extras and unlocks you get after having played the game. In the actual game you are just barked orders at while being shown some prerendered motion graphics. I didn't find it to be as interesting as the first one, as none of the members of the nanosuit team from the first game were mentioned. Except for Prophet, who dies at the beginning of the game. It's funny how bad it manages to be when they specifically hired a storywriter this time around.
QQ more, nobody cares. Wrong section. [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] Though I do agree with the 'MAKE EVERYTHING SHINY' post processing point. [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] I think the most telling thing was the demo for PC had a 'press start to continue'. I lost hope when they announced Crysis for the xbox 360. Always expect the worse.

All these sections, they all look the same! Yes, wow, what dedication to PC users, they fixed the labels for the controls just before they released the full game! Woo! Lucky us! I meant, is this really news to anyone?
I agree, I get the same feeling of "I wish this were Crysis 1" when I play. I can't remember but in the first game if you let off a single shot while cloaked did you basically loose all your cloak? I can't remember, but that annoys me. But the game is okay, just really nothing on the first imo
Someone is seriously mad.
And not a single fuck was given that day. [editline]30th March 2011[/editline] That sounded harsh :v: (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - Starpluck))
Good to know.
then play crysis 1 did that game suddenly disappear or something
Crysis 2 definitely couldn't surpass the first game, was severely disappointed.
Well regardless I'm waiting for the Community to see what it can offer...Mods and custom things is what got me into Half-life 2 among other games
Why is OP getting dumbs?
Why is OP getting dumbs?
But...but your avatar Supports Boxes...
Same goes with Bioware.

I have feeling that Deus Ex 3 is gonna be like Crysis 2. Horrible Console port game. Oh and.. "Press F to Look"... seriously?
It was linear and boring at times, And the Bloom raped my face. But it's okay not 60$ worth okay though.
Crysis 1 mod for crysis 2 anyone ;)?
I have feeling that Deus Ex 3 is gonna be like Crysis 2. Horrible Console port game. Oh and.. "Press F to Look"... seriously?
I think it's useful having that. Sometimes i can hear something happening but not see where it's coming from. Then i just hold F and the camera redirects me there. Simple and fast.
Definitely agree, OP. Played Crysis 2 at PAX East, couldn't fucking stand how linear/hand-holding the singleplayer is.
When I first play Crysis 2 at Eurogamer (Last october and on the PC) I was confronted with a PRESS X TO RELOAD. Assumed it would be made for consoles primaraly rather than PC, and was not dissapointed. Lack of sandbox is unforgiveable.
I completely agree with the OP. When playing Crysis 2, it felt so boring. My expectations wasn't even visible through the junk that Crysis 2 is. Without influence from the internet I already missed Crysis 1. Funny considering I usually have trouble forming my opinion on things. Besides all the gameplay, what about the retarded graphics settings? Gamer, Advanced and Hardcore. Really Crytek, really now? I might just replay Crysis 1 for some real fun.
I totally agree with the OP, but what shitted me the most was the story, it was as if some crazed fan wrote some fan fiction, then emailed it in and Crytek went, "Yep, thats great, we'll use that." the story was so lacking i cant even begin to explain it without hitting the character limit!
I think its hilarious, the amount of people acting like Crytek was the messiah of computer games or something, getting so dissapointed
I think it's useful having that. Sometimes i can hear something happening but not see where it's coming from. Then i just hold F and the camera redirects me there. Simple and fast.
It would be better if I could turn it off. Then it wouldn't matter.
I really hope that the sames happens with Dice and Battlefield 3, just for the reaction rrrrr my automerge
You forgot the horrible consolized FOV and the multiplayer
In all of the sense of the word, PC gaming is pretty much dead to the DEVS of big companies. They just always make it for console first, get more money from consoles, noone complains because console games (lol) don't have problems, and will continue to do so for a long time. It's understandable just why they don't give a flying fuck anymore :v: One of the reasons why I still like valve, they make the PC version first and THEN concentrate on shitty console ports.
It's not like Crysis was exactly a good game, I really don't know why you were expecting Crysis 2 to be some sort of masterpiece. I really enjoyed Crysis 2 for what it was and seriously cannot fathom why there is so much invariable hate around it.
