• Was the Cremator ever really cut?

After replaying Half-Life 2: Episode 2 I have found a strange occurance at the beginning of the "Riding Shotgun" chapter, where you restore power to a radio station after fighting of a group of Hunters. As you first drive up to the the station, you will see 2 resistance bodies to your left covered in blood. Normally, this is one of the features of the game that people just pass by without noticing, although I was doing a replay, and when I do I like to explore the game a bit more and notice the smaller details within. Shrugging it off, I decided I would just hurry and get this chapter over with. I went around through all the buildings, gather supplies as I went, and right before I fell down into the house that restores power, I notice the bodies still laying there, as you'd expect. I yet again shrugged it off, fell down into the house, restored power, and defeated the resulting hunters. Afterwards, Alyx did her radio mumbo-jumbo, and I proceeded to walk over to where I had left the Jalopy. Right before entering, I yet again remembered the two bodies that had been to the left of the car when I first entered. Looking over to them yet again, all I saw was a pool of blood. (You can imagine how freaked out I was.) Now, ruling out that this is some sort of bug, or that its been discovered before by some other source, I can see two reasons as to why this would happen. One, hunters apparently eat dead bodies for strength, or two, the cremator that was originally going to be put into Half-Life 2, was never really cut, and is simply there as an unseen character. Removing bodies while your otherwise occupied. I would provide you fine folk with a video, but for some strange reason fraps likes to bring my FPS to a plummet as it goes from 40 to 1, and honestly giving you pictures wouldn't do much good. The only thing I can tell you is to try it out yourself. All you gotta do is start out on the Riding Shotgun chapter and drive for about a minute up to the radio tower. In the event this has been posted before, feel free to throw boxes at me as I wallow in shame.. (I can imagine how this might sound like a creepypasta, its not. The least it might be is an isolated bug.) I've already checked, it has nothing to do with the system that removes ragdolls as more are created. They disappear via trigger when you first enter the building in which you restore power. [editline]lol[/editline] Since you fine folk keep asking heres some pictures anyways: This is with ai_disable set to 1 and although it doesn't prove much, I have showtriggers toggled at some points. At a point in "Highway 17" you come across the same scene. Either a knowing nod at the beta, or something to show the cruelty of the Combine.
i still have no idea why they have burnt bodies in the canals in the beginning of Half Life 2
i still have no idea why they have burnt bodies in the canals in the beginning of Half Life 2
Remember when the metrocops threw exploding barrels on your head? Maybe they were the ones who weren't so lucky.
how does bodies disappearing=cremation:burger:?
The AGNMI forum will make a thread about this, here we go agian.
how does bodies disappearing=cremation:burger:?
They had to have disappeared somehow. Whether or not it was cremation it was intentionally put in, and knowing Valve I doubt its a meaningless way to save resources.
It actually would make sense for the Combine to use the cremators, especially in the wilderness. The last thing they want is to leave dead bodies around for the headcrabs to reanimate.
Maybe a Zombine dragged the bodies away or ate them.
Can you show us pictures?
Most likely deleted as it's a prop_ragdoll (Server-side entity) and thus would cause maybe more lag on low end pcs? EDIT: forgot to read all of the OP

Afterwards it's a bit iffy, humans seem to be alive while infested, but combine on the other hand lose a large portion of their skull.
Answer to the question in title: "Yes". Btw I read some speculations that the combine have had most of their brain organs removed or relocated into the better protected chest area and their helmet is mostly an empty shell.
Well, no, because we've seen an unmasked/armoured Combine soldier before and they still look human, albeit with a lot of mechanical modifications.
Where?
Where?
Somewhere in Nova Prospekt.
Well obviously the ragdolls are just being deleted from the map, but the reason for doing so could be rationalized as an unseen NPC collecting bodies, but if you ask valve something like this they'll probably give you a vague, ambiguous, mysterious answer and the game is better for it really. Though, having a chance encounter or catching a glimpse of a Cremator escorting something like a medieval corpse wagon would be pretty cool, and a bit scary knowing that it has been out there, combing the wilderness, doing it's grim business for so long, silently and unnoticed by the player, watching, waiting. Yeah, if I had the decision I would have done or at least subtly hinted at it (if valve haven't been doing it the whole time, which you never can tell unless they give you a straight answer which isn't very often.)
Where?
You're thinking into it too much
Where?
Monitor in Nova Prospekt I believe.
The bodies have probably been taken by the hunters, though the burnt bodies in the canals are the work of Cremators, I'm sure about it. Also, I cant believe the Cremator head in Eli's lab wasn't mentioned yet
Also, I cant believe the Cremator head in Eli's lab wasn't mentioned yet
"We're not really sure what that does, Alyx brings in the strangest things.
[img_thumb]http://images.wikia.com/half-life/en/images/0/03/Stripped_combine_soldier.jpg[/img_thumb]
notice the scar on the chest the brain is in the chest cavity, with the head being a steel mold, fitting the helmet's shape, holding electronic equipment. this is why the zombine heads are gnawed down almost to the collarbone, due to the fact that, because headcrabs probably pull the cerebellum strings to trigger movement (which is why the movement is jerky), they are simply trying to get as close to the brain as possible, for the best reception. i can also see some kind of pinkish wound at the upper left of the skull, so that might be where they operated.

it's just a little fuck up with the mapping/continuity
Whoah Whoah Wait, What about the rotting corpses that you see nearly everywhere in the game, are the combine that strict to leave it there. Good theory too
[img_thumb]http://images.wikia.com/half-life/en/images/0/03/Stripped_combine_soldier.jpg[/img_thumb]
That thing in his throat creeps me out.

That's actually a really good theory you have there.
