How To Make A Good Fighting Game?

I recently was listening to a podcast where they said they want their fans to make a game about them. I thought "Oh sure I can do that" so I planned it out. I have a basic concept for it but I have one problem, I know nothing about making flash games involving Flash. I want it to be like a sort of Mortal Kombat style game with special moves, taunts, and finishing moves. If anyone knows links to tutorials or could explain it to me it would be greatly appreciated. I know how to make animations with flash so I understand how to make those but all I need is how to make them become a game. Thanks for the help!

Thanks that should really help but what I meant was that I know how to use flash but I don't know how to program.

You should learn if you want to make a game.

If you go through with it, make each hero diverse. Make them feel different then the rest. A lot of fighting games have cookie-cutter heroes with slightly different abilities.
