what?
Err... on topic... (i think)
It's funny how L4D1 was uncensored in Australia, but L4D2 was censored.
This thread seems... Somewhat pointless.
oops title typo...

Hypocrite.
I'm pretty sure Jack Thompson is barred from practicing law so no need to bash on him.
i agree that controversies are shit. if its too violent, dont play it. but there is a line that shouldnt be crossed. Etc: Rape.
And GTA really isnt that bad. At least compares to some other games. (Ex: Postal 2)

If you've played uncensored L4D2, you'd see the difference.
Movie sex = totally acceptable
Video game sex = omg think of the children
Movie sex = totally acceptable

It's cause Christians are all "omg sex simoolatarrrr!1!1!!11"
I'd totally buy a game if it was called 'Murder Simulator 2010' fuck that would be awesome

Well if you are a hired assassin who has to carefully plot out his kill each time, take a photo of the corpse and try and get away without being spotted.
Imagine you are at a party, your hit is chatting up some escort girls like the arsehole he is.
While nobody is looking you slip a poison into his drink and wait. A few moments later he collapses on the floor, you take the shot with a camera you have hidden on your person and leave, nobody remembers who you are.
You talk with your employer who gives you the money and spreads the word about you. Allowing you to get more jobs and buy better gear for later jobs.
Before Videogames it was TV, before TV, magazines, before that books, etc etc etc. Society and individuals always want to have something other than itself to blame.
Thankfully, My family never bought into that rubbish, hell, my mum got me the GTA demo when the first game came out and I was like 11 then.
I agree. And my mother let me play the first GTA when I was 4 :D.
I'm willing to bet OP is a kid himself, attempting to show us how edgy and cool he is by dissing censorship.

Pretty sure you mean Violin.
Manhunt prime example... gave people realistic examples of murdering someone with a bit more sense than just shooting people in broad daylight (good game, I really like the stealth realism that you dont get from games these days)

that Muslim Massacre game... clearly racist which is why that was banned and all over the news, the game itself wasn't TERRIBLE (I am not racist, i'm just reviewing the game)

Modern Warfare 2 - you know the mission......... why not call a game "BE A TERRORIST" then release that.... would cause less controversy than that ONE mission alone

Yes, video game controversy makes SENSE, but in some cases its quite stupid...... but its like saying "why not make all films AVAILABLE for children to watch"..... I wouldn't advise children to watch Antichrist or something as creepy as that or they would be broken lol
And have you noticed they usually don't ask for age when buying a R rated movie? While when you buy an M rated game "License and registration please."
This. I'm 16 and when I go to the movies with some friends (all -18) we can walk right into rated R movies no problem. I go to buy a rated M game (fucking HALO 3) they're say "Nope, you need a parent" like I'm a little kid.
Video Game Controversy = Free Advertisement.. Doesn't apply to just games either, Take that superbowl commercial for the gay dating website... They decided not to air it during the superbowl but it's been played at least a thousand times on CNN

Although I do agree... it still can be bad for the game's reputation
lets chat about it
ill start
GTA-lay off it for while damn, i meen, its not as bad as nearly 80% of other games
the violence? look at EVERY OTHER M GAME!!!!
corrupting kids? yeah its rated M for a reason idiot, its not the creators
jack thompson-please go gouge your eyes out.....or play harp with a machete.....really.....why only GTA? what about HALO? MGS? FALLOUT? did R-star stab your mother? LAY OFF THEM
Fuck off, learn your facts and good grammar, then come back. Jack thompson hasn't been licensed to practice law for years. Any recent GTA contreversies have been tiny and unfounded, and finally, you're an idiot.
