• Installing off the disk vs Downloading

I am trying to install NBA2K9 (don't ask just roll with it). And to my surprise it automatically registered to steam and started to download. Well I would like to be doing...other things on my bandwidth and want to install via the CD, is it possible to do so but still have it there on steam? Apologize if this is in the wrong section. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, you'll be just fine. The problem with disks is that some people screw up the placement of files and wonder why some things don't work, but oh well v:v:v Just make sure it goes in your steamapps/yourname.

You put it into the disk drive, :buddy:

Your title insinuates a pros and cons thread, but rather it's, "Can I install off of a disc?" The obvious answer is yes, as discs are still the post popular form of transporting digital media. Then you ask how you get the files off of the disc. You put the disc into the drive, and run the install. Most every 12 year old what calls himself "1337 h4x0r" knows about the disc drive.

What I truley meant to get to was "How can I have steam use my CD drive to get the files rather then downloading them from a server"
????? You would need to buy the actual disk from a shop then. The whole point of steam was to download games you bought online, so people don't have to go fuck themselves outside looking for their games.

This thread confuses me.
Download. You can keep it on any PC you log into.
If you perfer a three hour over network or a wait over ten minutes of digital transmission from CD/DVD then you could be wasting valueable time to create content for us :-3.
This thread confuses me.
In a seemingly drunken stupor I asked a question, but I didn't ask the question that I intended to ask...twice.
download because when you get a new computer and your CD is fucked then no worry
If you have a pathetic download limit like me. CDs are the way to go. Digital copy is good in a sense that you don't need to worry about losing cd keys, fucked up disk or losing the CD at all
