you create a new world, create a small hut and mine to bedrock, you strip mine for a while and get tons of iron and some diamonds, so you decided to build. as you build you notice in the night, one of the stars i slightly larger than the rest. you ignore it and continue. the next night you notice it is bigger. every day it grows in size until at one point it is so bright it begins to illuminate the world. it's a meteor, and its coming. you begin work on a small bunker but it wont be safe in time. you stand atop your stone tower looking at the large sun that is hurtling towards your world so fast that it is burning up as you look out upon the landscape. after a day or two the days become brighter, often meaning going outside is impossible, due to the amount of light coming from the comet. you stand on the beach looking toward the large sun (with some awesome sunglasses made with black dye and glass) and wait until the impact. the ground begins shaking as you stand waiting for death, seconds later an incredibly loud crash and rumble sounds across the land, you are violently thrown into the air and black out. how awesome would it be
Not very if you were working on something cool and suddenly realised the world was doomed.

I piece of land which fell from the Aether (WHEN it gets implemented officially)? That would be cool; you'd have to deal with the mobs as if they were an alien race! Or maybe that's how you would get up to the Aether.. Harvest materials from the meteor and create a portal from the wreckage!
Something that ends your game that you can't control? You make it sound all dramatic, but from experience, that kind of thing is a load of bullshit.

A bit too overdramatic, but on a smaller scale this could work. Imagine meteors varying from the size of a chest to half a chunk.
i have an idea to! Head lights! Torches + Helmet = Head light
i have an idea to! Head lights! Torches + Helmet = Head light
This idea is much better than the op
I like the idea of natural disasters in minecraft, how cool would it be if natural flooding happened?
A bit too overdramatic, but on a smaller scale this could work. Imagine meteors varying from the size of a chest to half a chunk.
You do realize how big one chunk is right?
This is a really bad idea.
Something that ends your game that you can't control? It also is not technically plausible. If MC lags with a few TNTs, imagine the lag for demolishing an entire world?
a sun made out of tnt and creepers
You do realize how big one chunk is right?
16x16, not that big, really.
Only if I get an ocarina to turn back time, and figure out a way to stop it from falling.
16x16, not that big, really.
Well it saddens me you cannot comprehend more than two dimensions One chunk is 16x16x128
You should be able to be safe deep underground from the impact then if you don't want to die and loose all your crap. Surface stuff would be screwed though :v:
It would be cool but it should be pretty rare. But they shouldnt be big enough to destroy a whole town. Maybe like the size of a big building.
