Sexy! Cloak! But won't this be like Advanced warfighter?
I think they need to stop with the future soldier stuff, I want some more present day warfare.
I think they need to stop raping their own series.
Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six used to be two great tactical shooter series. Now look at them they're destroyed.

It all started with advance warfighter...........
Indeed, and then Rainbow Six was brought down by Vegas. I never played Lockdown so I'm not sure about that one.

More like it started with GR2 when they decided to turn it into some over-the-shoulder third person shooter with minimal squadplay.

Bloody well agreed, look at raven shield.
That game was awesome SP and MP.
Then vegas or whatever it was... yuck...
I thought they stopped making these after AW2.

Vegas was a good game.

I heard lockdown's multiplayer was intense because you all used the same radio, so enemies could hear you and teammates could hear you at the same time. But i played the singleplayer and i hated it.
I like this turn, its interesting to see how it could be in the future. And as for the cloaking blanket, that is REALLY being researched by the military and there are already prototypes of it, so its not "too" far out there.

Indeed. Cloaking isn't some taboo fringe science anymore, it's almost a reality.

No it's not, it's a laughably fragile concept that only tickles the fancy of science fiction nerds.
The only "working" prototypes of cloaking/environmental light refraction involve lots and lots and lots of fragile equipment (microcamera in one example) and are rendered useless anyway since the human eye can see the light bending/refracting (in the case of the tank cloak prototype) and can still be seen on infared (which most modern tanks and gunships use so..)

It's still in it's infancy. Of course it still needs improvement, but it's a very real concept now compared to where it was decades ago.
Based off of previous reoccuring failures in every Tom Clancy series, I assume this will get dumbed down in more ways than you can count. The stockholders are infinitely tunnel visioned toward next quarter's payout, and never see the long term consequences, even when it hurts them too.
Edit: Just look at splinter cell. Used to be a highly regarded stealth tactics game, on par with Metal Gear Solid, and invented some of the most tactical and innovative versus ever. Now guards can look straight at you in half lit rooms and refuse to respond in any way but fire blindly at your "Last Known Position". Fuck them all, let them burn themselves to the ground.
Hell Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on PC was actually good, if you consider what a piece of shit Rainbow Six Vegas is.
But it's no GR1. I guess we'll have to wait for blackfoot studio's ground branch to see the revival of the genre.

Ghost Recon 2 was pretty shit.

Lockdown was more terrible then I can describe.

Vegas was a good game that wasn't Rainbow Six. Fixed.
Advanced Warfighter was a nice COOP game. Not the most tactical but still has some good team elements in it. It was also fucking hard.
I hope this will have a greater amount of commands, instead of "go to", "wait", "regroup" and "cease fire/open fire".
nerds itt bitching about a game that's been destroyed because it's aimed at a dumber audience and the original developers got kicked and are now working on a far better project called ground branch except nobody cares about them because they want to find something to whine about

You nailed it, now get the fuck out of here.
Never heard of ground branch until now. Sounds awesome. I'm glad to see some companies breaking away from these pathetic sellout trends
I have been playing Ubisoft games ever since Rainbow Six first came out on PC and I have played every one of their games for the three series. They are just trying new things. I do like and at the same time hate the new direction they are going in. I liked being able to plan out every move and order in the pre-mission menu and I can see why they changed it, people don't want to spend the time anymore to carefully plan things out. They made a logical choice with the Rainbow Six series, they have a smaller group, one squad of 3, so that would mean faster tactics. Also, GR made a logical choice as well, Smaller squad, no real need to coordinate with other squads since you are part of something more secretive than the Special Forces. For splinter Cell, a logical choice, Sam Fisher is no longer with Third Eschelon, No more rules, he doesn't care if he is seen, there is nothing to say why he wouldn't want to be seen. Moral of the story: Read the overarching storylines of each game and it will all make sense.
I'm tired of "WAR NEVER CHANGES" in game trailers
Ghost Recon 1 and Rainbow Six were the best. Not the newer versions though.
Just wondering, why does everyone dislike Rainbow Six vegas? I personally enjoy it just as much as Raven Shield.
Oh Ghost Recon, how I miss thee.
Personally I don't consider Vegas nor GRAW to be that bad.
Go play the older games than, I like both styles of gameplay. Realistic and not Realistic.

Who's "they"? imo a futuristic shooter is a nice change of pace from all the modern stuff.
modern warfare
modern warfare 2
arma 2
battlefield: bad company 2
medal of honor
all that shit is present-day, I want to see some futuristic warfare on par with MW2 as far as being dramatic and having awesome setpieces. 'Nam wouldn't suck either.

GRAW didn't feel too futuristic, the computer targeting linked up squad system sure, but it's theorically possible. We have Computer targeting already. Having some funky camera system would be annoying but not impossible.
The weapons in the game are either current day now, in testing/replacing when it was released, or expierments (such as the XM8) they're really not fictional super "future" weapons. They're all real-life. Or hell, even current day when it was released
(M9, G18)
Personally, I don't mind modern day games either, but we're just going through a trend, it will problaby go to this semi-futuristic, than fully futuristic, than perhaps back to WW2, or some past time period and loop over.
