Has the Fallout series blanketed the Post-apoc genre?

With Metro 2033 coming up, I have noticed many discussions rising up from a hand full of different forums, the main issue at hand is any sort of Post-apoc RPG is now linked to the Fallout series in some way, even FPS's have been accused of copying the genre, but it is slightly hard to differ from a fallout based story.
Agreed, so many people have played Fallout 3, that to everybody all Post-Apocalyptic games now have to be exactly like Fallout 3 or they just aren't done right. Borderlands was a great Post-Apoc game that had very little do with Fallout 3 but, some people just are diversifying enough if you ask me.

Borderlands isn't post-apocalyptic. Pandora is just a shitty place.

Those people are stupid and they need to stop existing. Now.
What? Metro 2033 barely has anything to do with any of the Fallout games.
No, it's the stupid people not the games.

No! People live underground and there's mutants! It's fallout! :downs:
But yeah, people like that can be really annoying.
You mean has fallout copied established clichés for the post apocalyptic genre and shoved them all into a game?

Dystopian. :pseudo:
Fallout 3 was a bit of a disappointment for me. Not enough player interaction, but fair enough most of the world is obliterated.
Less dystopian games like Fallout please.
Best Post-Apocalyptic game :
Big Rigs over the Road Racing.

Massive spoiler alert!
[sp]it turns out you are a ghost in racing purgatory, and you can only drive in a set few tracks, can go through objects, and accelerate into infinity[/sp]
I hate fallout.
Fallout 3 always kept you busy with the never ending mission cycle.
It would be nice to see the gaming industry take the whole post apocalyptic setting in a new direction, Hollywood's done it, and literature's been done did it.
Been done did. That's how behind you are post-apocalyptic gaming industry.
*Cough* STALKER *cough cough*

Also I have noticed that people start to say that any other game that is Post-apocalyptic is either ripping off Fallout 3 or is simply trying to copy Fallout 3. These people need to create a fresher point of view.
STALKER came out before Fallout 3 and definately paved the way for FPS post-apoc games.
In fact, Fallout 3 seems to take a good deal of inspiration from STALKER in my opinion.
