Dwarf has the highest STR bonus so that's the best choice for DPS DKs, other than that.. Gnome.

I'd say Dwarf, for strength, or Draenei for the hit rating. Human is OK if you PvP, seeing as you don't need the trinket.
I like the night elf racials but that's just me. It's nice to be able to shadow meld away from a gang of mobs ready to rape you in the but.
If you plan on doing pvp, go with human for their "pvp trinket" racial. It gives you the option to PvP without having to get the PvP Trinket and the racial also have a smaller cooldown last time I checked.
If you going to do pve, go with draenei for their 1% hit buff making it easier to reach the hit cap.
PvP: Human.
PvE: Draenei.
If draenei, whatever you do, do not fucking pick male. Trust me, I have a male draenei hunter.

The cooldown on pvp trinket and every man for himself is same, 2 minutes.

Higher population does not mean better. Here on Tichondrius alliance we are outnumbered but have wintergrasp every Tuesday due to better players.

Human is all round good imo, rep bonus, free pvp trinket, and free expertise with certain weapons, along with stealth detection.
Shadowmeld also isn't bad.
Humans are without doubt the coolest DK's
Human, has the best racials.
But dwarf has the best looks.

Dwarf is also good for tanking, On a DK STR=Parry, and Dwarfs have their racial that remove all poisons and boost armor.

I've yet to see a DK who can actually hold aggro.
It's not hard, turn on frost presence, put down DND, blood boil a few times. You don't even need your diseases most of the time.

Still have yet to see a DK do this and not fail. I think it might just be the fact that I'm (sadly) in the lowest rated battlegroup in the world.
I'm in a p. shitty battlegroup too (Cyclone), but I don't usually have that much trouble with bad DK tanks.
Then again, the only time I do heroics now is on my DK tank.
When I'm healing in random heroics and we get a DK tank, I FFFUUUUUUUU. DK tanks in raids usually know what they're doing and are good at it though.
