February 5, 2010 - Last December, Electronic Arts revealed that internal studio Visceral Games was underway with a sequel to the acclaimed survival horror title Dead Space. Then, the publisher said that series hero Isaac Clarke would prove more aggressive and that the sequel would also include a new online mode. Speaking to IGN, senior vice president and head of Visceral Games, Nick Earl, offered a few more details about the anticipated project -- namely, that action and polish are at the forefront of the sequel. Earl even compared the effort with two non-EA franchises known for their undiluted intensity. "I can tell you that we're a little more focused on action horror as opposed to survival horror. We just created a really beautiful sequence that we're showing internally -- we haven't showed it externally yet, but we will get it out there soon -- that I think speaks to the high voltage nature of the game," he said. "Some really strong action sequences that I think are on par with the level that we're seeing in the Modern Warfare series and with the level that we're seeing in Uncharted. Just beautiful, visual imagery and very electric action." He also said that Dead Space 2 will see further polish, "... which is saying a lot since Dead Space was so highly rated." While he wouldn't yet talk about any more specifics, he did say that the experience would prove "jaw-dropping in terms of scale and scope." "I feel very confident about where Dead Space is. I can tell you that we're not resting on our laurels. We're going very, very aggressively to take it to the next level," said Earl.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/106/1067171p1.html Hey let's turn our horror franchise into Gears of Modern Warfare 2: Space Zombies :downs:
Someone needs to bomb EA.
it sounds fine to me
I think this is where the expression "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" is appropriate.
I could care less, as long as it keeps up the same amount of polish the first one had. I fucking loved the first and I'm not afraid of something going in a different direction.
Meh, I don't mind. Isaac has been sent to the space station to solve the problem, right? So he's gonna be prepared and he's knows what'll be there. So why wouldn't he be more aggressive? [editline]12:52AM[/editline] Oh wait, FP, EA SUCKS!! rahhhh, dedicated servers raghhhhh!!! valve is god raghhh!!!
OP EA hasn't raped anything, stop bitching and nitpicking.
What the fuck is wrong with that? They're throwing in some nice sequences to impress you so you don't bitch and whine and say shit like hurrrr it's not as epic as modern warfare 2 and uncharted 2. They're doing you a favor if anything.
I hate when they think they have to live up to MW2 "action sequences".
EA is the publisher. Blame the developer for developing for EA.
facepunch doesnt like anything other then valve and valve isnt even godlike or great
facepunch doesnt like anything other then valve and valve isnt even godlike or great
I only like Counter-strike games, Team Fortress 2 and half life 2 for its misleading story. Half life 2 has poopish gameplay and I never liked it. I keep playing half life 2 episodes just to see where the story goes.
Hey everyone let's jump on the hate EA :bandwagon:

Half Life doesn't even have that good of a story really, it's just presented in a nice way and leaves alot unexplained.
Shut the fuck up EA are doing a fucking magnificent job recently, especially compared to the new assholes on the block: Activision. EA have taken massive strides to rectify their past misdoings and you faggots clinging onto their past issues are dumb as hell.
I hate people who constantly bash a company when they have absolutely no fucking idea what they are talking about
I hate people who constantly bash a company when they have absolutely no fucking idea what they are talking about
all i need to know is valve!!!
Ok, can we declare Facepunch it's own country and then we can invade the country EA is in and destroy EA and then apologize and make us a website again? Or can we just get some terrorists to bomb ea?
The sequences sound fine, if it's anything like the awesome death scenes. The online seems weird though, how do you put online in this game? I mean, the whole point is isolation and the whole "In space, no one can hear you scream"
i wanted the same exact game again and again, how dare you EA
If by more nice sequences they mean sequences like when the military ship rams you, then fine by me, that scene was totally awesome. And I thought Visceral Games were the last hope for Survival Horror. Guess I was wrong.
I really hate the direction that the developers are taking games today. I say less "awesome movie-like sequences" and more interactivity.
I thought the lack of constant action really built up the scare and atmosphere in the first one.
In the first one you were a worker trying to survive. This time you have experience and equipment. It kind of fits (though it's purely coincidence). Not saying I agree with it, but just throwing that out there.
oh noes! They changed something! Change is bad!
It would make sense that you would have backup, too. It's no longer some cramped little mining ship, it's a massive city ship. And there would be more necromorphs, too.

Constant action = Not as scary.

Hey, it's still playable. There's such thing as modifications, you know.
