Yeah so which version should I get? I know the PC is terribly unoptimized but I'm getting a new computer for college that may be able to run it. I'd have to wait for the computer though because I'm ordering it late July/early August.I know I'll be able to run the PS3 version but 32 person multiplayer sounds more fun.
PC
PC. Mods and the video editor make it much better.
I'd get it for PC, the ASI mods really extend the lifetime.
Windows.
Mac
wait..
Ubuntu
Should I get GTA IV or Episodes from Liberty city?
Well, GTAIV has a longer, better story, but episodes adds a few new features and 2 stories..
I'd say get GTAIV first, as EFLC ties in with the main plot and probably spoils stuff
You need both for the real experience.
I bought it on PC, really fun not played the biker one yet (played a little on xbox, also can't remember name) Not quite following the story on TBoGT though.
Ok so which processor is better
The AMD Phenom X3 2.1 GHz orthe Phenom II Quad-Core Mobile Processor P920 (1.6 ghz)?

The Lost and Damned.
Also, PC, the mods make it 1000x better. I haven't touched my 360 copy in ages because it just got old.
Anyone got some good mods to add to the PC version of EFLC? I'd really appreciate it.

q6600 at least is needed to run the game smoothly on decent settings

Damn, guess I'll go for the PS3 version then.

Yeah, if he plans on running 1920 x with full AA, full render distance and full city simulation running.
GTA 4 is CPU intensive, yes, but only on 'full'. Your GFX card is what is going to be the real deal-breaker here.
Bull. I have a Quad 3.0 and a 5850 and the game still runs like shit

What I'm planning on getting
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

This. I have
Q6600 Stock
4870 at 780/1010
2x2gb DDR2
800x600 Everything off or Low = 31fps
1920x1080 Shadows, Texture, View distances, Lighting at medium = 30fps.
Something is wrong.
I've got a Q6600, GTX 280 and 4gb of DDR 2 ram too but I run this at 30-60 FPS on highest settings, 1680x1050. Night shadows are set to medium and view & draw distance set to 35-40.
Markfu, I'm pretty sure the 5650 is faster than my card so you should be able to run GTA. I'm not too sure about the processor though.

That processor combined with that GPU will run it reasonably well, probably at medium, which already looks better than the PS3 version. I must profess, don't expect to be playing GTA4 on a laptop though, if you want to play the latest PC games it's best you get a desktop, tout suite.

Yeah I know, but I can't lug around a desktop to my dorm room so a laptop will have to do.
can someone link me to a good gta 4 EFLC mods website?
That card is NOT higher than his GTX 280 by the way.

just look up GTA mods, its not that hard.. thats all i could find. and most EFLC mods will be found under "GTAIV" since its the same engine, idk how many EFLC mods are out yet
Ok I just noticed a sale on steam with GTA IV at 5 dollars and EFLC at 22.50. Should I get them now and wait the computer or should I just wait? I'd like to save as much money as I can but I'm still not entirely sure if what I'm getting can run it. I mean as long as it can run it on low/medium-low well I think I'll get it because GTA is low on consoles anyways.
PC, if your rig can run it though. If you're going to play on low you might as well buy it for the PS3.

Also, if you're getting it for PC be sure to use a 360 controller.

I've found GTAIV's singleplayer to be better than TBoGT. TLAD was the best in terms of multiplayer.
I didn't enjoy TBoGT as much.
I've been playing GTA 4 with everything on medium (except shadows. They're on low) and need 1 Gb more ram to get to high (DRAM of the 2Gb I've got is currently 333Mhz. It's just shit RAM).
Might I suggest you put Vsync on if you haven't already? Really improved my experience.
