Found this while browsing through emails today. Thought some of you may find it interesting. PS: Sorry, I know I suck at being OP. http://code.google.com/p/minedroid/ I have personally tested it (Samsung Galaxy S GTI9000) and it seems to work extremely well... There is alot of room for improvement (its not even a proper classic clone yet) but its a proof of concept. Some pics thanks to SGTNAPALM --- I will be contributing towards this project and so will implement a better log manager soon so we can monitor why many phones have problems. Hopefully will be able to sort most of them.
I have seen this exact same thing done for iphone.
Better than DroidCraft. I doubt my phones fast enough to run it anyways.
Why would people waste their time when Mojang is going to do this officially?
Why would people waste their time when Mojang is going to do this officially?
Because people can do it better than Mojang could dream of doing it.
Endless 'Loading level.dat' for me  Droid X
Because people can do it better than Mojang could dream of doing it.
Yeah, true.
No pics for the droidless? :saddowns:
There are videos in the link. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] If you want later I can get screens though.
can someone record some gameplay ? [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] the ones provided are pretty bad
It's kinda cool I guess. I built a little shack, but I hit the home button and it didn't save it, so no pictures. Ran at about 15 FPS on my Droid 1, so it was a little sluggish.
Tried it on my Galaxy S. It didn't work sadly.
Holy fuck it works. Thanks so much OP. EDIT: Incase anyone wonders i'm playing it on a HTC Gratia with android 2.2, not rooted or anything.
Is it Froyo+ only?
Not sure, I will test it in eclair later today :) [editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
can someone record some gameplay ? It worked on my 2.1 Voodoo Fascinate. Here are some pictures from my server map. I can't be assed to turn them right side up. Torches, fences, signs, and things like that do not show up. Water does not flow properly. I was in noclip mode. Loading chunks was really laggy, probably due to my SD card, but when the chunks were loaded it was silky smooth. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] Also, probably because the maker didn't want to have a lawsuit from Mojang, it uses painterly textures by default. I don't see a way to change that.
Why would people waste their time when Mojang is going to do this officially?
MineDroid was a proof of concept. Not meant for a real game.
This is intended as an exploration of how Minecraft could work with a touchscreen interface rather than a full implementation of the game. For that you'll have to wait for Mojang to either make their own client or release the source
I'm not entirely sure clone is the right word.

[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
Is it Froyo+ only?
I tested on 2.1 and failed. It may just be my phone that fails below 2.2. Anyway, as to a way to upgrade your rom, take a look at http://forums.xda-developers.com/
I set up my MineDroid install so that I could sync my droid's world to my laptop's world, and show people my castles wherever I go. It's a useful little app, although still in early stages.
Work great on my Moto Droid 1
Why would people waste their time when Mojang is going to do this officially?
Mojang are going do this officially you say. Where did you get this information?
Why would people waste their time when Mojang is going to do this officially?
Because it would take Mojang 2 years before it's even playable.
