So after seeing all these piece-of-crap "first games" on Kong, I decided I'd make a GOOD game. My first idea was a multitasking game. You pushed up,down, left, right like a normal DDR game BUT you also clicked on drums! Well it sucked. Then I went on a slightly different path. Well, no. It was completely different. I was tired of all the clones so I thought I'd make something completely different. NOW, you move the mouse to catch falling notes. Now, I've been working on this for ~1 year, and it's still far from done. I've just hired an artist so we're right in the middle of a complete graphical change. If you want to play it, go here. Currently I have: -Songs(though there will be more) -Gameplay -A save system(And a bonus! If you play on kong, then the save file is only for the kongregate account you're logged in as! Log in as someone else and you get a different save file!) -Achievement system -Tutorial What I WANT: -ART -Store to buy in-game items -A sponsor(Well, duh) -All the songs -SYNC all the songs
This is actually really fun. On a side note, I'd like to see you finish that "Flying" achievement of yours.
I've gotten REALLY close. Of course, if you miss ONE you're pretty much fucked due to the combo.
-snip- It's fun, keep working on it.
Fuck The mouse stops moving when I accidentally move it over the edge. And that happens a lot because the game's so fucking small :E But yeah, keep on working. Might be a fun flash game when ready.
There are keyboard controls. Use your expert deduction to find out how to access them. [editline]05:15AM[/editline] Also, I must know what quinaking said!
Heart for trying. That achievement is relentless.
Oh yeah dude. The achievement unlocked text when you hover over it doesn't even believe you got it!
Also the Fire song is under-charted near the end.
Also the Fire song is under-charted near the end.
Yeah well the guy who syncs them hates syncing them. So he will tear your eyes out and then use the cord to choke you to death.
Yeah well the guy who syncs them hates syncing them. So he will tear your eyes out and then use the cord to choke you to death.
It can't be that hard if you're using a measure to chart them. Also, I broke it. :saddowns:
What did you break, the bottom score or Chaoz's? With chaoz airflow I know why that happens, but not why it only happens to that song. See, when I save scores I divide them by a number I shall not disclose, then when I load them I multiply them by that same number--a very basic hack prevention.
Well both but I thought Chaos was funny. I don't have any achievements other than Repetition and I don't know what that does so I felt cheated.
ChaoZ. Not as bad as people saying choaz EVERY TIME but meh. And the Deep inside score is that way because I have to save every value as 0 if they're detected as null by the game, but I haven't written the code for Deep inside so it's loading null and since it's not synced yet you can't get a score for it. But you can still play songs with a slash through them, they're just not synced. I also need suggestions for songs. [editline]05:34AM[/editline] Repetition is awarded for getting a combo of 30 in any song. To erase the chaoz airflow achievement, click "reset scores"
Pretty cool little game, I like it. Plays a lot like Audiosurf actually. My only complaint with the gameplay is that the difficulty of the last song seems a bit overtuned. For me, it devolved pretty quickly into just swinging the mouse back and forth as fast as I could.
ChaoZ.
That's hardcore.
That's hardcore.
SHIT JUST GOT QuAntUm
Interesting idea! I like it! Heres some critiques/suggestions that I have for you though: -You should have a background with a simple visualization of the music that is playing, like some vector graphics drawn with data from SoundMixer.computeSpectrum(Or the Actionscript 2 equivalent if thats what your using... come to think of it I don't know if there is an AS2 equivalent...) -When you are doing the art redesign, try and spend a lot of time on making it near perfect. A flash game like this will do much much better if it has highly polished graphics. Try to keep everything consistent and simple too. -You should add as many achievements as you can come up with. Players seem to not be able to get enough of them. -You should definitely look into changing the export settings in flash to amp up the music quality if you can. Try to find a good balance between what sounds crisp without taking too much of a hit in the file size department. -Implement a highscore system, if you plan on using Mochi-Ads they have a great highscore api... although that might not work out for you since sponsors typically won't let you use ads. -Try to keep a high contrast between the things you have to collect and the background in the final art style. You could also put a soft black(any color or anything with too much intensity would just make it look cheesy) outer glow on the pieces that drop down. -When its finished, and your looking for a sponsor, use flashgamelicense.com. Its a great place to find a sponsor and saves you the time of having to send out tons of emails looking for one that likes it. Plays great so far though, and you have the right idea on taking your time with your first game.
Thanks. -There is no AS2 equivalent. I refuse to switch to AS3 just because everyone loves it. A programmer is limited by himself, not his language. -I am working with the artist. He churned out the player in like 30 minutes. He has great potential. -Yes, I am going to have lots of achievements. -I will do this once I have all the songs in the game. -I am using Mochi but I don't care for highscores-Kong has high scores anyways. -Thanks for this tip, I'll talk to the artist about this. -I already am. I used FGA to find the artist ;) Thanks for the feedback.
I liked it, but I noticed for ChaoZ, I could pretty much just hit the falling "notes." Can you try to make it so you have to get them on the inside of the cup and not just to touch part of it? I was able to just swing it back and forth because of this and get most of them.
I want to, but that will make it a BIIIIT tricky...and a LOT harder. [editline]07:01AM[/editline] I GOT IT! Ok, so the store is going to use credits--or "Notes". You gain one note per star on an easy song, 2 per star on a medium song and 5 per star on a hard song. Now, here's where the middle comes in: If you hit a note in the MIDDLE OF THE CLAW, you gain 1/10th of an extra credit. Of course, people could "cheat" and use keyboard mode, however in this mode it's only 1/25th of an extra credit. Thoughts?
how far are you trying to go on your game? if your going far, very far like FFR, I might give ya some suggestions.
I opened the game expecting Metal. I am disappoint.
I am trying to get it to be a game that gets sponsored, gets money and beats the living SHIT out of other "first game LOLZ"! [editline]07:47AM[/editline] And also, if this game kicks off, there will be many sequels. Each sequel will focus on a different style of music like Rock, country and yes...Metal.
And also, if this game kicks off, there will be many sequels. Each sequel will focus on a different style of music like Rock, country and yes...Metal.
Rock and Metal now :argh:
Rock and Metal now :argh:
I won't take the time to develop and sync an entire new game until I know this game is popular. And it's finished.
You should also add in many other different type of music in there... I recommand you take a look at Dead Can Dance, Faun, Arcana, and Blackmore's Night. your game need a lot of work... a lot of work.
Dude, sequels. This is technoically (giggle) "Music Fall:techno" But it's the first one so it's just Music Fall.
