We've all had those moments in games where shit makes no sense, be it story or glitches.
So what moments in games just didn't make any sense to you at all? (Remember to spoiler tag it if it is late in the game.)
In MW2, the airport mission. Why did they tell Allen to get close to Makarov when he was literally five feet away from him? Allen could have killed Makarov and Viktor, Kiril, and Lev right then and there, and either escape the airport or surrender to the police forces.
It's a game.

If I do remember right, it was shephard who had him do this, and the point was so that they could kill an American and when the russians found the body they would attack the U.S. because they would believe that it was the U.S. that attacked the airport.
None of MW2's storyline makes any sense at all.
This is a very old and very well known fact.
Silent Hill 2.
"A giant hole. I don't think I could survive a fall like this. Should I jump?
YES | NO"
...well, uh, no, don't do that
"YES"
welp
[editline]08:41PM[/editline]
I mean it wouldn't be a problem if it only happened once but James just willingly leaps down into FIVE holes before he gets to the labyrinth at the bottom.

Which still doesn't really make sense because it was known that Makarov did it, so what's it matter that an american helped

Speaking of Silent Hill, why is every door's lock broken?
Every damn door in every damn game has its lock broken. Who the fuck is going around breaking all the locks?

The original plan was to gain Makarov's trust. In the military, you don't stray away from the plan. Ever.
It was a stupid scene anyway. You can die only 20 ft away from where you eventually get shot and you'll still fail the mission. Apparently Makarov is a shooter magician also, because even if you hide behind a wall you'll still get shot.

Pyramid head. Before he starts raping the manikins, of course. :v:

That's not what he asked. He was asking why didn't Allen shoot Makarov and his cronies, not why Makarov shot him.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your post.

I wish I could find the YOU DUMB ASS emote, but I can't. Shepherd didn't mean physically close, he meant to earn his trust.
More on MW2, despite Ghost surviving massive barrages of bullets, one shot from a .44 is lethal.

Makarov and his men escaped on a hi-jacked ambulance, while the Russians were none the wiser. The only thing they saw was an American body (God knows how they knew it's nationality), and knew that it was one of the attackers, so they blamed the U.S. for the attack. Makarov escaped according to his own plan.

Don't get me started on MW2's AI and their damage regulations.
Apparently MW2 was supposed to be realistic. They failed in a long-shot.

Don't worry, I'm glad for the bad AI 'damage regulations'. Veteran woulda been a bitch if you had to babysit important squad members and keep them from dying.

I know that, but the ultimate goal was to make Makarov go 6 feet under, wasn't it? The fact that he was so close to Makarov so quickly eliminated the need to earn his trust at all. Shepard seemed to know they'd be doing this, so why didn't he just tell Allen to kill him when he had the chance?
Gaining Makarov's trust really didn't matter at all when he was literally five feet away from him, like it would if he had to climb up through several ranks to be trusted enough by Makarov that he was put by his side.

Loose Ends. Veteran. No flash bangs. Ghost as a partner.
So many headaches.

The same guy who leaves all the multi tools lying around in Deus Ex, obviously.

All the bodies in SH2 are James.
Mindfuck.
I'm John Marston, I'm freakin' badass and I can shoot everyone in sight in less than a second, without talkin' about the numerous amounts of lead I can eat without dying !

What ? THAT'S BULLSHIT !

Two of Makarov's henchmen are scripted to die. They obviously found those bodies.
When some games you "must" enter a specific room, but it is "locked", so instead of breaking down a door, you spend ages looking for a key or something of the sort to open the door.

And when people say "we don't have time!" but you could end up leaving the area and never going back to the quest. They should implement timers more often.
The story of Blaster Master on the NES.
º The protagonist's frog pet (named Fred) escapes his bowl and flees outside the house.
º Then, it just so happens that right outside by the house's garage entrance there's a big pile of radioactive materials (awesome to live right next to that kind of stuff). And, of course, the frog happens to flee towards the lovely stuff, whilst the boy runs after it.
º The frog then jumps on top of the radioactive container (of sorts) and in a matter of a few seconds grows to an enormous size. Then, the frog-monster finds a hole in the courtyard, big enough for the newly-grown frog to jump in, and of course our intelligent boy decides it's a good idea to follow the amphibian and jumps in the hole too (a hole he seems to have never been aware of anyway).
º The boy then falls down some tunnel at the bottom of which there happens to be a well placed and still operating futuristic and advanced combat vehicle. Now, of course, there's no one left to pilot/drive the vehicle, but there's one suit available for a would-be driver, and the boy knows how the thing works, wears the suit, equips the helmet and activates the vehicle.
º Perhaps the strangest part of it all is that when the slide-show scenes of the introduction gets to the final shot we can see the vehicle from behind ready to start, but farther away we can clearly see that the vehicle faces the exit of a cave of some sort, the "cave" in which the boy and the frog fell in, which of course happens to be underground, but the shot clearly shows that after the exit we're just going back "outside", with a forest on the horizon and a clear blue sky, as if we just entered a completely new world (which is certainly the case, too).
Don't mind the story though, it's a fantastic game, but when taking care of and reading the story for pure analysis purposes we kind of comfort ourselves when we get games with "disappointing" stories nowadays, because mind you, we did get nonsensical stories in our so called "golden age of gaming" as well, yeah.
How about every second of every MGS game?
Two points in the last mission of COD4.
Firstly, the old issue of the backblast not wiping off Gaz and Price's eyebrows, plus most of their heads.
Secondly, when you crash, Gaz shouts out "STOP THE BLOODY TRUCK", despite the fact that he is driving it himself.

Infinity Ward DID care about quality, how could you look at their previous work and say that? Activision ran them into the ground though.
