Welcome to this fancy megathread about the classy Hitman series
This thread is basically for everyone, so either the ones who are new and the veterans who play Hitman since the first day when Hitman Codename 47 was released (Like me)
First of all some basic information about the games
[release]
Hitman is a stealth game series developed by the Danish company IO Interactive. The game series has since expanded into a novel, Hitman: Enemy Within written by William C. Dietz, and a Hitman film adaptation which is loosely based on the storyline of the games.
The series revolves around Agent 47, an assassin-for-hire, whose flawless record places him in high demand among the wealthy and elite. The games feature a mix of orchestral and electronicamusical scores (which is fucking awesome), composed by Jesper Kyd. A fifth installment of the series called Hitman: Absolution is in the works and is due out in 2012, Another Hitman game is to be the debut project at Square Enix's brand new Montreal studio. The new Hitman game is for next-gen platforms, IO Interactive will contribute to the project

Release: June 21 2006
Engine: Glacier X (Complete overhaul)
Description:
he story follows the life of professional hitman, Agent 47, as narrated in cutscenes by a former director of the FBI to a journalist who is interviewing him. The wheelchair-using ex-director recounts how his agency tracked 47 over a two-year period. The game also marks 47's arrival to the United States, and differs from the original three in that several contracts are carried out in civilian areas, as opposed to the "covert ops" settings of Codename 47, Silent Assassin, and Contracts. The game was a commercial success, selling more than 2.1 million units.

Release: November 20, 2012
Engine: Glacier 2
Description:
Hitman: Blood Money ended with Diana helping 47 to fake his death, in order for him to escape The Franchise. 47 killed their leader, former FBI director Alexander Leland Cayne, though he was part of a larger secret society called Alpha Zerox. Diana and the rest of ICA do not know 47's whereabouts, nor does the player for certain - though the last scene shows 47 entering an Asian (possibly Chinese) establishment, asking suspiciously what they have to offer, "preferably in the back".
The first in-depth trailer for the game shows Agent 47 storming a safe-house, and confronting Diana while she is showering. 47 is "betrayed by those he once trusted and now hunted by the police, he suddenly finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth". At least one portion of the game will be set in Chicago, but it has been confirmed that the rest of the game will take place within the US.
Novels

Hitman: Enemy Within is the first novel in the Hitman series. It was written by William C. Dietz and released on August 28, 2007. The novel's plot is set between Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Blood Money and revolves around a rival murder-for-hire organization, known as Puissance Treize (French for "Power Thirteen"), attempting to destroy Agent 47's employer, the International Contract Agency (ICA). The book's tagline is: "The clone assassin has been played long enough – now it’s more than a game."
New facts about the Hitman universe

Agent 47 is revealed to not only disguise himself with other people's clothes, but also create more elaborate disguises.
New facts about Agent 47's past in the asylum are given, including his first kill at the age of twelve.
A lot of information about the Agency is given, including names and positions of their boardmembers. At least two of the Agency's properties (an island and a yacht) are revealed. The name of another of the Agency's mercenaries, Agent Orbov, is also mentioned.
Before the Franchise, the Agency fought another rival, Puissance Treize.
Agent 47 meets his old friend and mentor, Father Vittorio, whom he hasn't seen since the events of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin.

Nice thread.
Well, perhaps it's old news to some, but I just found out today, Hitman 5 will have new talent for the voice Actors.
David Bateson & Vivienne McKee will not be returning in Hitman 5.
I consider myself a Hitman Veteran, played them all since 1. One of my favorite franchises. I'm quite sad to hear this.
So will see what it turns out to be. Almost wish they'd make a new IP, then to change something so core, but I guess they have there reasons (prob. $$)

Worth 25$? And how much playtime would i get total?
I played every single Hitman game, too. Loved them, especially Blood Money.
And I pray to every god a man can pray to: Let Absolution be good. Please.
Oh and to the user above: It's worth every cent. Getting Silent Assassin on every mission will take you quite some time.
Codename 47's a bit hard to play with the controls, but easily 20 hours + each on the other two, trying to get silent assassin on each. If you wait a bit, there'll probably be a sale before the new hitman, and I got my copies some time last november, enjoyed them all. Blood Money is amazing.

Blood Money gave me like half a year's worth replay value. If you set a challenge, like to get Silent Assassin for every level and things like that, you can extend it for a while.
Plus the AI is hilarious, so you're pretty much bound to run into something that you'll remember.
Oh man, it's been awhile since I played a Hitman game... *dusts off Hitman 2: SA*

I remember the main theme for Hitman 2 used to pump me up SO damn much...

Most of the developers for I/O left after Kane and Lynch 1 was released.
They're currently working on a WW2 multiplayer game called heroes and generals. Them leaving could also be seen in the drop in quality of I/O releases and the cause of a lot of the stupid decisions being made due to new management.
New E3 gameplay of Hitman Absolution has been released, and it looks amazing:

I was right.
Back in the old absolution thread, everyone said it was gonna be hitman: conviction, i said they were wrong, this proves it.

This worries me though, but IO is involved, so it might be good, i dunno.
well the gameplay trailer is almost at an end.
i'm somewhat excited but also kind of skeptical
That E3 Demonstration does instill a lot of hope in me gameplay wise.
Lets just hope there is as good of a variety of locations for hits as Blood Money.
i think they're going for the deus ex thing where there'll be multiple missions in an area and once you clear an area you move on.
if i'm not missing something i'm betting that's what they're going for.

Why not just go regular hitman style with one to several objectives and possibly a few side objectives.
Hitman isn't really a RPG game where you talk to guys to get sidequests or something.

"Hi, they call me 47, you need someone dead? No, ok, I'm gonna have to kill you now"
square enix made deux ex 3.
they also said they were going to have big open environments.
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline]
lol, face it, this is the way the game is now.
you can actually read back to interviews about level design and it's hinted big and proper that there will be open environments.

yeah someone who's lived underground all his life wouldn't know how to gather contacts.
DID YOU SEE ONE OF HIS CONTACTS IN THE VIDEO? HE WAS SOME PUNK ASSED THUG!
like seriously if you need something you can't get (illicit) do you actually go up to random people and ask them where to find it?
I do just hope it is more like Blood Money.
I did barely read anything about it, but I just hope.
Blood Money is a great game.
Recently, I thought I'd go back to what may be my favorite game in the series, Hitman 2. Of course, trying to get silent assassin in the first mission... Well, it just feels really awkward, with the paranoid guards and such. Doesn't seem to be a solid way to do it. Or has Blood Money spoiled me?

No, Blood Money is just better. How fucking stupidly paranoid and trigger happy the guards were and how goddamn useless disguises were in Silent Assassin just made it fucking frustrating at times.
square enix made deux ex 3
learn the difference between publisher and developer.
eidos montreal made Human Revolution
:words:
Most of the levels in the previous games were pretty open, i'd suspect that what they meant is that it's still like that.
it's like you people just pick what you want to hear.
i'm fuckin serious, go back and look at the interviews.

wow 47's voice sucks, speeks at 1:43
(minor?) spoilers in the video i guess
What the hell is up with that 3-4 second pause between the explosion and civilians screaming and running away?
I dunno, I mean, Bateson was better, but I don't mind the voice that much.

So? Blood Money had big open environments as well. And making them even bigger would only make the game better.

47 never even meets his real clients, all his contracts are delivered to him through ICA and they always cost dozens of millions or something. Even with ICA he only has one contact person and does not know anyone else who works for the organisation (atleast in the games up until absolution, occasional random associate not counted).
Anyways the punk assed thug must be someone very special if he knows about the agency and is not a part of it. He might be an associate of the agency though, I don't imagine that they'd have a dresscode for no reason.
I really love the implementation of the crowd. It was my favorite part about the mardi gras level.
