Unable to change S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: CoP graphics options

I decided that I didn't want CoP to look like shit, so I turned the graphics to maximum. Nothing changed. Then I turned the graphics to medium to see if that would work. It didn't. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I'm having a hard time finding solutions on Google.

Your system may have made your config read-only.

Find your config and un-read-only it, this often happens with certain antiviruses.

If you mean user.ltx, then no, it isn't read-only.

Hrm, then the only other prediction I can make is that either A: You've put your lighting settings too low for the game to be able to look good with, or B: Your GPU is incapable of rendering high settings, so it bumps them back down automatically due to overheat/lack of shadermodel compatibility.
