as far we know ID as guys who gave birth to game such a DOOM and QUAKE but what is the last classic they made I have to say Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Quake 3. Everything else just hasn't been as good as the stuff they used to make.
doom 2 Also, it's just id, not I.D i used to think that too though.
Quake 3. Everything else just hasn't been as good as the stuff they used to make.
Quake 4 was pretty good but I see what you mean the newist Wolfenstein was well utter crap compre to there classic games
Quake III: Arena.
Quake Live. It's Quake three, only free! That would make a good slogan :D
Quake 4 was pretty good but I see what you mean the newist Wolfenstein was well utter crap compre to there classic games
Maybe because they didn't make the latest Wolfenstein game.
They didn't make Quake 4 or RTCW. So I'd say Quake 3.
quake 2 and it's mission packs are the last games in their catalog that can even qualify as classics. the innosence in ultimate carnage with minimal reason to do so is quite appealing. quake 3 doesn't qualify since it's sloppy work and an exerageration of previous successes. what i'm saying is: "Too much carnage, Too little mood and story" (it's multiplayer only)
If you count Quake Live I'd say that. Best free multiplayer game ever. Why play all those Quake clones like Saurbraten when you can play the real deal?
RTCW was a great MP game, Altough i liked ET better
Quake 3: Arena 100% Pure classic material. Quake 4 sucked (that's right I said it).
I'd also say Quake 3, even though I wasn't particularly fond of it myself. I personally felt UT99 was a much superior game, but we're talking id games here. I would not consider Quake Live, for the sole reason that I feel it hasn't got enough attention to be considered a classic. Doom 3 and Quake 4 don't qualify either for obvious reasons. I think we can all agree that the pursuit of graphics took the "classic" out of id games. Now for controversy: I don't feel Quake 2 was a classic. It's a very good game, and I do revisit it's single player campaign every couple of years for nostalgia value. But I felt it was missing that spark, something that would make it qualify as a classic. And I believe that it was a lack of "set-pieces", parts of the game that you remember as soon as you hear the name.
Quake 4 was pretty good but I see what you mean the newist Wolfenstein was well utter crap compre to there classic games
I thought it was better than the original.
Another vote for Quake III. They haven't been very active since Doom 3, but the Doom II RPG that just came out on the iPhone is pretty awesome. [editline]08:15PM[/editline]
I thought it was better than the original.
Heathen! Begone with you!
