Is there anyway to make only magus active in chrono trigger?

I want to use Magus's Doom sickle advantage of when your two team mates are gone you have a big damage boost. I have no idea how to get just Magus in my party. Please tell me

i know im at the black Omen part. Ive done all this. I just need to know how to get him the only Active one in the party
