• Need Help Remember an RTS Game

I need help remembering/finding a game that I played 3.5-4.0 years ago. I will give you all the details that I remember in hopes that you know the RTS genera better than I do. I remember that it dealt heavily with the pope and other religions. It had a strategic map that consisted of north Africa, the Mediterranean region (including Israel, Syria and Turkey) and the southern part of Europe (ie Italy, parts of France and Germany). It may have contained all of Europe, but I remember the southern parts for sure. Game play consisted of conquering territories and trying not to have them rebel against you, especially if you were another religion. You could go on crusades for the pope and call jihads as a Muslim nation. You could send priests to help convert a region before you conquered it, or in hopes that it would defect to you because of the religious influence. Whenever you used and assassin a little video would play (it was CGI, but it was cartoony in tone sometimes) and determine how well you did. It would show an assassin putting a snake in someones bed or getting caught by guards, etc. Also plagues could happen, and spread to destroy your population. Mongols invaded and wrecked up the place as well as other conquering hordes. It is not Knights of Honor. It is very similar to knights of honor, except that you can train up special officials in cities to help you convert provinces. There are other differences too, but that is a major one. So can you please help me? I remember this game being fun and I want to try and find it. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I have used Google to search for this game, to no end. I can't find good search terms and I don't know if I would know the name by picking it out of a list of RTS's.
Age of Empires?
Thanks, but no that's not it. A great game series, but no what I am looking for.
Sounds very much like Medieval II Total War, or that Paradox Interactive medieval dynasty game.
Medieval 2 Total War. OK, I'm not a player of many RTS's but Age of Empires was the first to come to mind. Hope you find what you're looking for.
Axis & allies comes to mind, although it dosen't completely meet what you said, I have only tried the demo though, and so, I cannot be completly sure
It's Medieval Total War I/II for certain.

Thanks everyone. It was medieval II, I just didn't recognize it. I must have mixed and matched parts of Knights of Honor and Medieval II in my head. Thanks again for your help.
