I don't seem to know what's going on with Borderlands. I've just bought it on the PC, bumped all the graphics settings to high, and it still looks horrible. The textures are very flat and blotchy. I can grab some screencaps if you want aswell.
My PC is way more than capable of handling it. 1440x900, C2D 3.2ghz, ATi 5770, 4GB ram. Performance isn't an issue, as it's getting huge FPS, but the actual looks don't seem like max settings. Any help or fixes much appreciated.

Yeah of course I know that.
The actual textures look like they're on low, despite being on high. I tried print screening it, but the image I get is just black. I've played it at my friends on his PS3, and it looked far better, and there are people across the internet saying it looks gorgeous on the PC.
I'm going to bed now, so I'll try again in the morning. Any help will be hugely appreciated.

the game didn't really have excellent graphics in the first place, why not enjoy the gameplay rather than worrying about the graphics is my advice
its like moviesgoers these days... most people care about how GOOD the special effects are, wouldn't give a shit about the story or acting

The game looks fine, I'm not sure what you're bitching about. I play games for both gameplay merit and graphical stature, both add immensely to the experience.

Technology has developed in games a lot... especially with FPS games
but I can enjoy the old Medal of Honor games, then try a modern Battlefield game. I personally don't care about the clarity and excellent quality of the presentation... I'm more into the experience that you get from it

It's not cel shaded, they are simply colourful and simple textures with a horrible edge detection shader.

Looks like the textures haven't loaded properly. The door seems to be fine.
That is a bit weird. Check in your DefaultEngine.ini in the Willowgame\config directory. Some settings on textures in there might be fucked.

Did their art team not go to an art class?
Happens in quite a few UT3 engine game, texture popping. Usually corrects itself after a while though strange.

It adds to the cartoony style of the game. It's not supposed to have realistic graphics.
Perhaps you should check your configure files and set the settings from there.
Thanks for the feedback, all. Going to reinstall it and see what happens. If not, I'll take a look in the configs and manually change things.

But it's not cel shaded. The outline is a cartoon effect but it has nothing to do with cel-shading. It simply appears along with cel-shaded graphics.
