• World of Ur - A Server of Giant Imagination

What is this server about? World of Ur is a Minecraft world built in response to a quirky free-to-play online MMO called Glitch closing down in early December 2012, leaving many players stranded looking for a place to call home. The seed has been customised to match the world that people came to know in this game and because of this, we have a cheerful and peaceful community of all ages and genders. What makes this server different for someone who hasn't played Glitch? Well the community is fantastic and pleasant to play with and here, that's the #1 priority. From 8, to 80 (Well, I believe a pair of 54 year olds are the oldest I've seen around!), all genders and no discrimination makes it the place that people who started playing, recommend that their friends, spouses, children or siblings play on - even my wife plays, and halves the server costs with me (so it's not like we're going to quit after a couple of months because oh, I couldn't afford it any more). Community aside, we've got a good combination of Bukkit mods that enhance Minecraft's core gameplay as well as a means to build just about anything you can think of! Okay, that sounds really vague, so let's just list a few things! Near where you spawn, we have a very large mine which more ore-based resources than you can poke a diamond pickaxe at. This limits your buildings down to your imagination and nothing else. Well, maybe accessibility when building. So to assist with that, we have Fly for Food which lets you fly around in survival mode with a feather at the cost of hunger. Some servers have religious figures - or "Gods" - you can worship in return for rewards. Here, we've got 11 "Giants" with their own lore that cover all different aspects of Minecraft. Bit of a maths geek, or love playing with Redstone? Tii's your Giant. Its domain is over Odd & Even Numbers. Find that trees is more your thing? You may prefer Spriggan. Before Spriggan, no giant had ever imagined a tree. After Spriggan, no giant ever needed to, because he had already imagined them all. Prefer to indulge your evil side? The Rook has you covered - he's a pretty menacing crow that pecks and claws at the imagination of all the Giants. As far as other plugins go, we've also got your bog ordinary stuff that most other servers have like Dynmap, MCMMO, Essentials, Dead Mans Chest, Lockette, LogBlock and WorldGuard as well as a few more which aren't so common such as MobRepellent and Redstone Proximity Sensor. What we don't include is any mods that require client customisation. So no Tekkit, FTB, etc. We like keeping things simple for the average player to be able to pick up and play without a giant learning curve. To top things off, we also reduce the amount of hostle mobs in game and increase the amount of friendly animals. How do I join? Before joining the server, there's a couple of hoops you'll need to go through but nothing too major. One is registering on the forums to be automatically whitelisted and the other is reading the forum rules, to be able to answer a random question needed to pass registration (Since the whitelist process is fully automatic, we've got to make you do at least one thing to prove you're not the equivalent of a mingebag!). Once you've activated your account via email, you'll be able to see the post that has the server details so you can jump in and play! The server IP is: mc.w3k.id.au The dynamic map is found at: http://mc.w3k.id.au:8888 Here are some screenshots, since they're always useful: http://imgur.com/a/IKI8V Oh and one more thing: The server rewards you for playing, not for paying. Although we quietly provide the means for donation, you actually rank up and become an Unlicensed Imaginator (creative mode!) the more you play. If you're a fantastic builder, you might even become 'licensed' and get the power of WorldEdit, plus a few other perks.
