Sonic 4 is currently on it's way to home consoles all around as a retro reboot to the series in the same vein as Megaman 9. Using old school gameplay with new (if a bit stiff) HD graphics. Gameplay promises to be solid, and the fact that there are /no/ other characters other then Sonic and Eggman (Ivo Robotnik if you're a real fan). It's currently being made by DIMPS the guys behind the surprisingly well loved Sonic Rush DS series and isn't being touched at all by sonic team themselves. Everything is shaping up to be a surprisingly nice revival of a dead franchise.
This is how I view it, anyway.
Apparently a group of uh... fans, have started the best boycott I have ever seen on a game, promising that they will not buy Sonic 4 on release, and instead buy Sonic 1 on 4's release day because the leaked ALPHA footage clearly details how bad the game will be despite being 10 seconds long, quite literally.
So that's the gameplan, give sega there money to show that they... won't get their money? Uh what? I can't even comprehend how fucking retarded this is. For once Sega seems to be on the ball, and doing /everything/ fans wanted and they're being (excuse the term) boycotted? Not even Unleashed got this and it had the fucking werehog. Jesus christ there is no pleasing some people is there?

Sonic games have always sucked. I never understood why it has fans. The first few games were good, but why is there an entire series encompassing a dozen games? Is it because of the Cartoon? I don't get the reason it still has fans.
Why did they even change Robotnik's name anyways?
I just watched the video. Doesn't look like a whole new game, looks like a shitty remake of the Sonic I played on the Sega GameGear.

Actually never mind. If you think a game that isn't about killing shit is automatically dumb, it's not worth going to the trouble of explaining Sonic games.
Out of the 1178 people that signed that, maybe 50 or so will actually buy Sonic 1 and not this.

In case you've been missing out destructoid is a website that immediately opposes every boycott in the hopes that somehow a boycott that nobody knew about will suddenly gain attention from people posting about how stupid the boycott is by linking to their destructoid website on forums.
