• Missing eye textures for rebels in HL2 Ep2

This bug has been really annoying me lately. I have verified the half life 2, episode 1 and episode 2 caches, defragmented them all, verified source sdk base 2007 and defragged source sdk. It only happens with rebels, Alyx and the vortigaunts eyes are fine. Does anyone know what is wrong?
I don't know if I can fix it, but try mat_specular 0 It will turn anything shiny, shine-less. It may work, unless the missing texture is the eye itself, rather the shiny overlay on it.
try launching it with a different dxlevel
That's incredibly creepy. I could totally see something like that fitting into a horror mod. Anyway, maybe reinstall the game?
"More colorful squares means more antlions!"
Wouldn't they just be black and purple if they were missing? That's really weird...
I think the lod controls in your game is wrongly configured, try using r_lod 0?
Could be a conflicting texture problem. Try deleting your materials folder in your ep2 directory and verifying your game cache again. That, or somehow determine the offending texture and delete a texture with the same name in your ep2 folder, if you're reluctant to delete all your textures.

All of the rebels in your copy of Half-Life 2: Episode Two have no souls. So, the solution is...give them your soul, but it does mean that you will no longer have a soul (so you will go to hell) and you will get eyes like that. Good thing you can't see your character's eyes in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Also, another downside is that the entire screen will go purple, pink and white checkered just like the eyes of that rebel. Good Luck!
Thats...odd. Usually if somethings missing a texture it'll just go black and purple checkerboard. I've NEVER seen any texture like that... That's beyond creepy.
Its a witch burn it! Try reinstalling HL2:EP2 or burning it.
looks like the maps cubemaps are messed up, type buildcubemaps in console, or the command was something close to that, but when you do it will freeze the game for a minute or two and rebuild the cubemaps. after that most of the time you need to restart and it should be fixed.
Verify integrity of game cache.
Verify integrity of game cache.
He already did that.
Perhaps he's got a DirectX 8 graphics card? I know that the EyeRefract shader has an additional Eyes_DX8 in case someone didn't have a card with the DX9 support
I just recreated your problem: If you still don't trust me, it's fine. But I'm sure it's a lod misconfiguration or you're using custom content for the game(That steam can't detect because it's an human error)

Sweet Jesus that's even more terrifying than the first guy's problem

griggs is possessed no hope left
Oh whoops, forgot about this thread :3 I fixed it by deleting the materials and models I had in my ep2 directory from compiling some models. Maybe I had some eye textures that conflicted? Anyway, It works now so thanks for the help facepunch :3
I suppose you were looking for the directory "materials\models\humans\male"?
