Hail the Glorious Banner of our Glorious People's Socialist Democratic Federal Republic!

So, I'm going to be doing a playthrough as Brazil of Darkest Hour, as an aspiring party to the Communist International. I wanted to do one of these as a state that wasn't in the spotlight of the war. Gonna take them from obscurity and bring them to greatness!
I'll provide in game monthly updates. They'll show you territory, how the war in europe is going, and how our eternal struggle of liberation is going in the americas.
Will all of the americas be liberated? Will we be the vector by which glorious communism spreads throughout the west? Will our Glorious People's Socialist Federal Republic of Brazil wind up becoming a Glorious People's Socialist Federal Rump State? Stick around and find out! (I'll be updating this tonight with the initial things.)
Some things to note. I will be using cheats in this little scenario, but only insofar as to bypass a dumb hardcoded restriction. No one can actually join comintern, it's just for Soviet Puppets only. For this playthrough, I'll set the bar at Government Type: Stalinism and Relations with Soviet Union: +100 before they'll accept me. Perhaps you'll find it better that we make our own alliance. We'll see. And yes, you get a say in what goes down!
This should be good
take over russia for absolutely no reason
take over russia for absolutely no reason
Why would we attack our glorious allies?
for absolutely no reason
But how else will Brazil get it's start without military assistance from the Soviet Union? And using them to get a start then betraying them is just... betrayal. The People's Socialist Democratic Federal Republic is better than that.

So, here we are. The date is January 1, 1936. We are Getulio Vargas, The Father of The Poor. It has only been a few short years since our Leninist Revolution began its struggle to Liberate the brazilian people from their chains of oppression. Just a few short years ago, our people could be found in the streets begging for money, and reporting those that failed to do so. Our ascent to power, by valor and arms, brought to an end the Old Republic, characterized by an oligarchic rule of the bourgeoisie hellbent on oppressing the workers of our nation, and rabidly and jealously defending their means of production.
Soon, we will bring about a new dawn for Brazil, transforming this pitiful nation whose economy is based almost solely upon plantation farming into the industrial powerhouse, envy of the world. The Sleeping Giant of the Americas slumbers no longer! Our supporters who brought us to power shall be pleased with this. Soon, their appeasement and pleasure will, gradually, turn to domination. By the time it becomes known to them, it will be far too late and they will be far too replaceable and expendable for us to grey our hair over. When Brazil is the envy of the world, years from now, and we've long since passed away (of natural causes, I assure you!), this time will be referred to in the history books as... Estado Novo, or the New State.
Our soon-to-be Glorious People's Socialist Federal Republic is coloured Teal on this map. Fitting, right? Not really. Starting from the top, counterclockwise, our neighbours are French Guyana, owned and administered by the French; Dutch Suriname, owned and administered by the Netherlands; British Guyana, owned and administered by Britain; Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador, which at one time were united under one banner as Greater Colombia; Peru; Bolivia; Paraguay; Argentina; and Uruguay. Bordering Argentina to the west is Chile.
As our rather indispensable, loyal, and sycophantic popups inform us, Our policy can be changed! Also, we have a few issues we can decide on now, put off till later, or ignore outright. I'll go into detail just below.

Here, you can see that we have already been working and making our state better for the workers. You can also see that we're fairly peaceful and not bellicose whatsoever. Below this, on the left, you see us as the Head of State AND Head of Government. Nice job, us! We're closer to tightening our grip. The pictures of the men below us (both literally and figuratively,) are those of the men who helped bring us to this precipice of absolute power. We cannot replace any of them at the moment, they're here to stay. Which brings me over to the left, our policy sliders.
Earlier our dutiful, servile popup altered us that this may be changed! We can only adjust this by one notch every two years. I believe that we should spend this time tightening our grip on power, so we should change our policy to be a bit more authoritarian. Afterwards, we can work on combatting foreign influence, carefully planning our economy, and becoming more interventionist in nature so that we may liberate our neighbours around us from the chains of oppression, poverty, and unindustrialized, agricultural squallor.

Here you see we have a few decisions to make. It is also here that I'll explain why we would want to do these things.

We're not quite ready, but in the future we might be able to Issue Currency. As you can see, our treasury is running low. Once it gets down to a certain point, we might want to print some money to avoid going into debt. Doing so will harm our industry, though by a negligible amount each time.

Next, you see that we will soon be able to decide on whether to purchase licensed units from other nations. If our military was critically short on men, this would be a quick way out.
After this, you see that we can perform a purge of the military. As we've got lots of the old guard from the old republic leading our men, our junior officers and enlisted men might enjoy us killing, forcing into resignation, or imprisonment of the old guard. Our people at home will not be pleased with it, though.
Lastly, you see that we can reform the military service. This will give us much manpower, but will be a large drain on our supplies. We'd have to ramp up production. But when the time comes for us to mobilize our military and launch our crusade of liberation, this might not be a bad idea.
Speaking of production, our great nation currently hosts 34 factories. This is far too little for any nation with our ambitions and of our size and population. It is our mission to transform our nation into a glorious People's Socialist Federal Republic, industrial powerhouse of the south. We shall perfect our manufacturers to the point to where it will become unpatriotic to feed or clothe ourselves with imported goods.
So. It's in our hands. What should we do?
We must issue currency and reform the military to get ready to liberate Argentina.
We must issue currency and reform the military to get ready to liberate Argentina.
We must also construct factories and begin producing units in series. As we produce each unit, we should become faster and faster at it.
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
The date is February 6, 1936. It has been little more than a month since we assumed control of the great nation of Brazil.
Our very first action as Head of State and Government was to Enact One-Year Conscription, giving us much needed manpower to expand our military. We've also put into motion the construction of 44 factories; 22 in Rio, and 22 in Porto Alegre. This nearly doubles our industrial capacity. This industrial powerhousing should keep us busy until 1960.
We've also begun production of 6 parallel series of 2 units, infantry units backed with a light tank. The technology was new in 1918.
That said, we've also begun research into new infantry and manufacturing technologies. These should be finished by mid to late April; This will bring us to the technology level of 1921 in terms of infantry, and the tech level of 1930 in terms of manufacturing.
Not just a couple of days ago, we issued currency. This gave our treasury 1,000 currency to work with. I suggest we use this to increase intelligence funding and to work on improving our rather frosty relations with the Soviet Union. They don't think very high of us at the moment, having -49 relations with us. They probably dislike the fact that we exercise a different variant of communism than they do, but that will soon be remedied. We can spend 90 Currency every 15 days on diplomatic missions to the soviet union, if that will help. As for intelligence, we can invest around 140 currency every few months to get it up and running more efficiently. This will be our best tool in combatting the foreign pigs, allowing us to assassinate their ministers, stage coups in their countries, influence the world opinion against them, and run smear campaigns in their own countries.

We used our opportunity to change policy to slightly tighten our grasp upon power. We're still not where we'd like us to be, though.

We have a few new decisions to make. Upon issuing currency, we now have just enough money to engage in War Games, which will make our generals a little better. We also now have to worry about our currency devaluing, which we can remedy by putting 3,000 currency into the economy. Later, we can worry about this. Additionally, now isn't the time for war games. If and when we find ourselves in war, we can further reform our military service, giving us even more manpower, but draining that much more on our supplies.

God drat it, this died. Should I keep her steady as she goes, or just let this stay dead? :T
I wish it didn't die, but I think it's because not a lot of people know how to play the game. Infact I really don't the only Paradox game I play is Victoria 2
Perhaps general games discussion isn't the right place to put this
Keep it going (if you want). I'm reading this. It's cool as hell.
Yeah keep playing through, more LP's in this forum would be great. I wouldn't worry too much about waiting for feedback as to what to do, just go for it
It doesn't have to be a Let's Play either, it could be an After Action Report and still be interesting, I'm pretty sure it'd be fine.
