Just Cause 2 takes place on the fictional South-East Asian island of Panau. You play as special-agent-mexican-badass Rico Rodriguez as you hunt down rogue agent and former mentor Tom Sheldon. JC2, like the original JC, has an enormous island environment; over 400 square miles. However, unlike the original JC, which had a strictly tropical environment, JC2 has tropical beaches, arid deserts, and snow covered mountains covering the island of Panau. JC2 also offers much larger set pieces than the original. While JC had a few cities and towers scattered about, they were dwarfed by the vastness of the jungle environment. JC2, however, promises gigantic buildings, sprawling cities, mountain bases, and much more, all to contribute to the games emphasis on vertical gameplay. Like the original, JC2 allows almost total freedom of movement due to it's parachute, grappling hook, and stunt maneuvers (and of course, hundreds of vehicles) You can scale the tallest mountain and base jump down into the city if you feel like it. The huge game world offers plenty of opportunities to simply play around. Of course there is still plenty of combat to be had, and JC2's biggest innovation is the new grappling hook. In the first game, the grappling hook was a separate weapon that you had to manually select, and all it could really be used for is to latch onto vehicles. JC2, however, completely re-invents it, attaching it to Rico's arm, allowing easy access no matter the situation. The versatility of the grappling hook has also been vastly improved. Now, not only can you latch onto vehicles, but you can latch onto any surface you see and pull yourself to it like some mexican spiderman. This allows you to easily reach virtually any surface, giving you a tactical advantage against the hordes of grunts you will gun down. However, the most innovative addition to the grappling hook is the new Dual-Hook system. The Dual-Hook allows you to fire one end of your grapple onto an object, and the other end onto anything else. This instantly opens limitless opportunities to have fun: Hook a person to a passing car, hook an enemy to a plane taking off, hook a perusing vehicle to the ground and watch it flip, the list goes on and on. The idea of jumping onto a moving car and hooking the driver to the street makes me giddy. It also looks like it's going to have a LOT more to do than in JC. I really like the new environments, and the sheer scale of the whole game. I'm looking forward to this one a lot. Just Cause 2 comes out March 23rd, 2010.
This game is the definition of awesome. That is, if it's optimized and they don't fuck up the controls.
do want, especially after the unplayability of the ps2 version of the 1st
Reminds me of Mercenaries mixed with Spider Man.
i liked the idea of the first one, but imo it wasn't pulled off well. i'll probably get this one
i liked the idea of the first one, but imo it wasn't pulled off well. i'll probably get this one
Agree'd. It was fun at first but it became rather tedious and repetitive. I think the devs figured that out and decided to cram as much as possible into this one to make sure you don't get bored.
This game could be many things, the only one I'm sure of at the moment is it's gonna be FUCKING AWESOME.
The first game was awesome. This one sounds close to Fuck shit up terms of awesome!
I didn't play the first Just Cause but this game looks like sex.
Finally, a not tacticool game, looks like a shit load of fun.
This comes out on my birthday.
Just cause 1 was such a letdown it was unfunny. It just turned into a load of "Run here, shoot these guys, take control of this zone and then rinse and repeat" I really hope they don't pull that shit off in this one.

They mention a lot about upgrades and collectibles, and a black market to buy shit from. They also said that there would be far more mission types and activities to keep it from getting repetitive.
I want this game.
This comes out on my birthday.
Happy early birthday :kiddo: On topic: I played through the first JC, and I loved it. Most definitely getting this.
This is what Mercs 2 was supposed to be.
Just Cause 1 was an awesome game, this is going to be insanely awesome!
Hook a car to a heli copter. :smug: Or a helicopter to a plane or something elss cool.
Just Cause was like Spiderman for the PSX, GTA III, and Max Payne all in a blender of awesome with no replay value whatsoever.
Replay value: Planes and going really high up and fucking shit up. Also known as, crashing planes and flying them because the flight system was great fun. Once you took the big airport it was loads of fun.
I want this game just so I can hook two planes flying in opposite directions.
I really wish this game had Euphoria AI, would make it my personal game of the year.
I want this game just so I can hook two planes flying in opposite directions.
LOL! If it was just cause one they would have snagged and just fell down to the ground and exploded. [editline]06:18PM[/editline]
I really wish this game had Euphoria AI, would make it my personal game of the year.
Shoot the vehicle once and that strong looking south american guy runs away.
FAQ: Q:How is Rico able to do all those stunts? A: Just cause.
This really reminds me of Mercenaries 2 a lot. This has some potential, but I won't really be hyped for it until I play it.
This really reminds me of Mercenaries 2 a lot. This has some potential, but I won't really be hyped for it until I play it.
Dude it is the publishers who published the hitman games and just cause, it won't suck.
It won't suck because you can stand on top of a fighter jet with a person grappled to it, plant some C4 on that plane, hop off onto another plane like another day on the job, then blow up the C4 like a total badass. :smug:
When this comes out I'm going to lock myself in my room, put on some sunglasses, and yell YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH while blowing everything up.
Defenitley agree with above post.
I'm a sucker for unrealistic sandbox games.
