Should I play BioShock 1 before playing BioShock 2?

You didn't have to play Half-Life 1 to still enjoy Half-Life 2 and still understand the story.

(I played Hl1 before Hl2, but I know a lot of people who only played Hl2.)

I bought hl2 but waited to play it until I got hl1 and played that.

And yes, Bioshock 1 is far more immersive and compelling then compared to this, poor, milked counterpart.
