Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising - now with added spikiness - Games

[img]http://filesmelt.com/downloader/11749orig.jpg[/img] PC Gamer UK (don't know about US or AU) has issued an article and mentioned in their recent podcast outlining the inevitable Dawn of War 2 expansion pack, guess what? Chaos are in it, and all four of their dark patrons will be included! I don't have much intel regarding screenshots or issue scans yet but Chaos terminators, Dreadnaughts and several types of daemons from the four Chaos factions (Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, Tzeentch) have been confirmed. A new campaign in which you fight the forces of Chaos as well as the previous threats from the original game A Corruption meter for each of your squads which changes based on your actions in game, i.e. blow up a shrine to the Emperor to get a suit of armour or leave it be? Oh, and in some missions there will be NPCs who may either help you or leave you alone based on your level of corruption. All but two of the campaign missions will affect your warriors' corruption level as you progress. Level cap raised to 30, expect some new perks for your squad leaders. An end to the tedious base defence/kill the boss at the end missions in the first game - the new missions will feature more variety in terms of objectives not unlike those found in the missions advancing the campaign in the original. Defend Aurelia (alledgedly with more than just three maps for each planet this time) and a new ice world which warped out of nowhere. Host of more innovative MP options (no details on those as of yet) A new unit to command in the campaign! Take control of a Space Marine Librarian and unleash psychic fury upon your foes! Update to The Last Stand: Take command of a Chaos Marine hero and a Tyranid hero in addition to the existing three heroes available. either they're going to compress all that shit into chaos divided or make 4 separate commanders each dedicated to a different god

Meh, DoW2's multiplayer sucked anyhow, so I don't really care unless they add a campaign. It's sad really, DoW2 had lots of potential. Anyways it's nice that they are adding Chaos, they are my favorite faction so I'll probably consider this expansion.

DOW2 was fun, I'm looking forward to this. The words real time strategy never meant base building to me so I never got as angry as it seems everyone else did. It helps that Ground Control was one of my favorite games. I wish they had called it something else so DOW2 didn't get such a bad rap. I can't even talk with people who haven't played it yet because they "heard" it sucks. Darn bandwagons.

Saw it in PCGUK yesterday. there are screenshots of some chaos dreadnoughts and a little devil thing riding an armoured demon-dog. Chaos space marines look very nice.

Meh dow 2 was fun but it's not even close to original, but if the expansion is not going to be 50€ it's all fine and worth to try.

I always thought the DoW 2 addon will have a chaos campaign which will finally be about that cliffhanger at the end of DoW 1.

Yeah but Horus was outright obliterated, not even the favour of ALL the chaos gods united saved him. The Emperor took on a Champion of Chaos Undivided, that's about as much of a fuck you that you can do to the Ruinous Powers. You do understand the Magnitude of that don't you? since it's a rare thing that two chaos gods find each other agreeable enough not to send their minions out to slay the others, let alone all 4 agreeing on and favouring a single champion.

Yes, the Emperor kicks ass, but we don't get to play as him in the game anyways (nor do we get to use him in tabletop). Also the Chaos gods don't really care that much about the material realm, even the Horus Heresy was just a small (and very short) distraction from the way more important (for them at least) Great Game.

Play as the mightiest character or the weakest character? @Emperor in TableTop&Game. Yeah pure balancing right there.

Like posted above, having the Emperor in the game would be punching the win button.
