Is it really that crazy to think that Half Life 3 is coming out ?

Well I haven't really been trying to follow Half Life2 news posts or doing research about whats going on but as far as I know, valve is being really silent about Half Life 2 and it has been like that for about 2 years now.
Valve can work on multiple titles at once and so far the only development being seen from valve is portal 2.
The time it took for HL2 to come out after Hl1 came out was around 5-6 years. Half Life 2 came out 2004 and now it's 2010. Thats another 6 years or so.
Keep in mind I'm not stating a fact that I believe in or anything. This is a question.
The three episodes were supposed to be Half-Life 3. They were just made episodic to speed up releasing
I think we can see from L4D2 and Portal 2 that Valve have decided to announce games much closer to release than they used to. So the fact that they haven't formally announced Episode Three yet doesn't really mean anything.

And as for the delay, we knew since 2008 (?) that Ep3 would take longer than Ep2 did to develop. Ep2 took two years, and it's been two and a half. Not that remarkable.
They've said that episode 3 is going to be the last of the episodic series, but not necessarily the franchise of Half-Life.
Short answer: No.
...that's all I have to say :colbert:
I'd be surprised if they were making Half Life 3 this entire time.
We could've Half-Life 3 by now if it wasn't for Valve's choice to make it into episodes.
They said episode 3 would be the last game involving Gordon Freeman.
Adrian Shepherd however...

No, the episodes were supposed to be HL2 beta stuff then when it leaked they cancelled and now they are selling it back to us with episodes.
And yes we'll be seeing gordon in HL3, ep3 will not be the last of gordon freeman.

No they weren't.

No, they said it would end the HL2 story arc.
That does not mean that Gordon is out of the picture when HL3 comes out.

They NEVER said that. Valve said Half-Life 3 will happen continuing the adventures of Gordon Freeman. Get your facts right.
When I played the original Half-Life way back when, I thought it was really amazing to think technology had come this far. I can't wait to see what they have planned for Ep3.
They said episode 3 would be the last game involving Gordon Freeman.

Even if that were the case. I highly doubt it because Adrian Shepherd is Gearbox not Valve

I think you're thinking of Halo, where they said;
They said Halo 3 would be the last game involving Master Chief.

You're stupid. They were cut long before the leak.
They said they weren't EVER going to wait another 6 years like they did with HL2.
All i care about is when Ep3 comes out, i hope i have something that can run it.

because right now my family has 3 laptops, and the desktop is a dinosaur used for bills and stuff.
Why do people think Adrian Shepard will come back? His character was made by a mod team which made opposing force, which valve then bought.
What
The plan is to release it in episodes so the community won't have to wait 6 years for Half life 3.
It's just taking a little bit longer then expected because they were/are working on so many games like Team fortress 2, left 4 dead, left 4 dead 2, and portal 2.
My guess is: This year is portal 2, next year is episode 3.
