As the title says. Do I need to buy the base game with all of the expansions, or what? Thanks
Base game, it's only a tenner + free month = bargain. Get a mate to play and do the recruit a friend, triple XP, etc, will really get your game going, if you like, then go expansions.
Will I be playing the same game as every body else? Would the latest expansion contain all of the content from the previous expansions?
You'll still be able to play with your buddies even if you don't have the expansions. You just can't get to the locations (Outland, lvl 58 and Northrend lvl 68)
Same game to an extent. Buying the expansions unlocks better detail models but I've never noticed a difference prior to upgrading or post. And when cataclysm (newest expansion) comes out everyone will get the map/quest/etc updates anyway.
[QUOTE=Cypher_09;20777832]Will I be playing the same game as every body else? Classic Account (just WoW) -> Burning Crusade -> Wrath of the Lich King. So you can't just go Classic -> WotLK. You're in the same world as the rest of us. Outlands and Northrend are quite partitioned from Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, but it's still the same world.
Base Game, and that's it, don't worry about expansions til 58, then 68 for WotLK, because if you find out WoW isn't your slice of cake it's a waste of money to get the xpacks Burning crusade unlocks Blood Elves (which are for twats) and Draenei (see Blood Elves) as races and the 60-70 content WotLK unlocks Death Knights and the 70-80 Content, you have to be 55 to make a DK anyway. You'll be playing the same game, the way you see the world and the things that happen are all the same, you just can't access post-60 content until you upgrade.
The game is the same to everyone, but without the expansions you don't get some content. The content for each expansion is specific to the level bracket it adds, mostly. With BC you get 60-70, LK you get 70-80 and all the zones/instances in them. I don't think the items are off-limits. However, with BC you get the two new races. The jewelcrafting expansion only benefits those 60+. With WOTLK you get the Death Knight, which is at 58, and Insription. I don't know if you can't use glyphs if you don't have WOTLK, but the benefits for inscription are really only there 70+, otherwise you get some nice benefits from level 10+ Also you can't get the "new" profession levels, it stops at 300 rather than 375/450 without expansions. But the stuff you make 300+ is for level 60+ [editline]10:45PM[/editline] So you don't lose much by not buying any expansions, until you reach a level that needs an expansion.
Also, if you havn't already (or someone hasn't told you already) do the trial first then buy the game, that way you get 44 days of play time from the start. (I'm guessing you might already have done, but just incase, there you go) :)

If so, that's really cheap. The original WoW is still $20..
dayum, just classic WoW is the same price as a game card over here...
I got the battle chests, they actually helped me with leveling up professions on my characters aswell, they have a lot of information about how to makes things and were to get the recipies.
