[release]About Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a first person survival horror. A game about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. An experience that will chill you to the core. You stumble through the narrow corridors as the distant cry is heard. It is getting closer. Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel's troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits. Information By using a fully physically simulated world, cutting edge 3D graphics and a dynamic sound system, the game pulls no punches when trying to immerse you. Once the game starts, you will be in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps, whatever happens will happen to you first hand. Amnesia: The Dark Descent throws you headfirst into a dangerous world where danger can lurk behind every corner. Your only means of defense are hiding, running or using your wits. Do you have what it takes to survive?[/release] Release date: August 2010 http://www.amnesiagame.com Fuck, i can't wait :q:
looks really dark and cool at the same time.
Hell yes. Pernumbra is one of those rare games that have actually managed to creep me out. Usually "horror games" just resort to the old "monster in a closet boo" method.
I'm looking forward to this.
Wow, looks scarier than fuck.
Apparently if 2000 people pre-order the devs will add developer commentary. Too bad I'll wait until it's available in steam before I buy it. Less of a hassle that way.
Looks pretty much like Penumbra except during the medieval ages. I really hope it doesn't take the "Black Plague" route and take make you weaponless, that was really gay and a major turn off in Black Plague, one of the greatest things about Penumbra Overture was that you had weapons, but they were too weak and too slow to really rely on completely but you still had the comfort of knowing you had to defend yourself if necessary.
Your only means of defense are hiding, running or using your wits. So yeah I think we're weaponless again.
Wow that looks absolutely pantshittingly scary to play alone in your room at night with the lights off. I wana play it when it comes out, but I'm scared I'll be too scared to play it all the way through. :frown:
This is like the 5th thread on this http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=844441 Seriously people learn to search
A horror game that is actually scary? Heck I nearly wet myself just over that video. It cannot be. The entertainment industry doesn't know how to be scary. It's all about flickering lights, lots of screaming, narrow camera angles, shaky footage, grit and blood galore... right? ... ...right?! ... ...right... ? ... ... D:

I hope it keeps up the same suspense dark plague had. Other than that its bound to be great.
You're so wrong, it's astonishing.
How am i wrong again? Oh yea, i'm not, nevermind.
How am i wrong again? Oh yea, i'm not, nevermind.
You're wrong cause you had a terrible opinion.
You're wrong cause you had a terrible opinion.
It's not opinion, it's fact, i stopped playing it simply because of that "gag". It was nothing more then a cheap way to make you scared of a game that was already scary enough to begin with and was more annoying then it was "atmospheric", although i did like it's puzzles more.

A dog appeared? Lug a fucking crate at that shit and it instakills it. Needless to say it almost completely ruined it for methinks. Besides, you could still fight in Black Plague. Lugging shit at the zombies slowed them down giving you a lot of time to move. It wasn't just as clearly established as "click mouse1, do damage". Also, stating your opinion as fact got old years ago. It only makes you look more dumb.

By the makers of Penumbra you say? Well fuckshit this game will scare the living hell out of me.
hehe... I remember running down the halls of black plague.... scared the living shit out of me, cause I knew I was running with something chasing me. XD I look forward to this game's release... I have high expectations for Frictional Games...
A proper adventure game using the same mechanics would be incredible. Also, the thing that helped with Penumbra (and apparently this) is that the main character is as close to a believeable person as you can make them, you're not some space marine or guy with weapons training, you're just some normal unlucky bastard who got caught up in all this crap. Sort of like Farenheit, before you got the crazy universe bending telekinetic powers.
I don't think naked dudes without eyes can be scarier than this.
Good to hear that they're continuing to be the kings of true survival horror.
I'll play the demo, get piss scared, and watch a playthrough on youtube, laughing when the player gets scared.
Will the Falcon work with this?
Will the Falcon work with this?
I hope so, because then i'd have a reason to get one :v:

The first Penumbra lost all its scariness once you figured out there were only two types of enemies and that you could kill them easily. Feeling helpless is what makes horror games so scary. Keep in mind that this is "survival" horror.
Didn't care much for Penumbra, I thought it was overrated. This looks alright though.
