[RELEASE]True Crime: Streets of LA is a video game developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube in June 2003 and the first game in the True Crime series. Activision later released versions for Windows in June 2003 and the Mac in 2004. The computer versions contained various extras, such as multiplayer games, unlockable characters, training videos and songs. A sequel was released titled True Crime: New York City.[/RELEASE] The Gampelay
True Crime: Streets of LA focuses on the other side of the law in the genre of the police procedural. The player controls police officer Nick Kang, and is given a good cop/bad cop rating based on the morality of the player's actions. These actions affect the storyline, leading to one of three different endings.
L.A.
The game features an extensive 240-square-mile (620 km2) re-creation of a large part of Los Angeles, most of Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica with most street names, landmarks and highways. However, there are unmarked neighborhoods surrounding the game. The player cannot enter these parts of town, as an attempt will respawn Nick back onto the nearest street in the game. However, there is a mod for the PC version which allows the player to enter the unmarked areas, which is also possible by doing a glitch which removes the white fadeout screen. That game looks so much worse than I remembered. Disappointment setting in.
This game lasted about 40 hours. 37 of which were driving all the way across LA to get to the next mission.
Texture mods please?
That game looks so much worse than I remembered. Disappointment setting in.
holy shit you read my mind no but seriously, the graphics may have sucked but this game was hiliarious and fun to play.
I remember this game. I have the second one (True Crime: New York City, or something like that) I think it has a little bit better graphics. I remember a glitch I had in L.A. I was walking down the street and I passed this black dude, his eyes were like popping in and out of his head. When they popped out, they got like 5x their original size. Shit was creepy.
I remember randomly arresting people and finding a shotgun hidden on an old lady with a cane. :v:
I remember randomly arresting people and finding a shotgun hidden on an old lady with a cane. :v:
I remember when I was trying to arrest a drug dealer, I flashed my badge and an old lady pulled out an SMG and mowed me down.
So I learned my first lesson, Never trust old ladies, they're more dangerous then Bazooka weilding thugs :v:
Oh god I played this game sooo much on the gamecube. The fighting sucked if I remember, but the rest was so fun.
Game was shit, didn't even need to complete the missions. You could just skip them.
why did this game look so awesome back then?
because it was fun for a while being a rouge cop.
because it was fun for a while being a rouge cop.
And you got to fight [sp] A FUCKING DRAGON [/sp].
The new game in Hong Kong looks awesome
I don't remember the game looking that shit. [editline]09:10PM[/editline] [img_thumb]http://m.mygames.pt/g4/images/reviews/shot_13_515.jpg[/img_thumb] Yep that looks way better.
This is good game, it's like some Hollywood Jet Li movie, fucking martial arts and shit. I remember playing it when I was like 10 or something, good times
I remember fighting strippers, shit that was crazy cause it was hard.
Fuck I loved this game
This game was actually really fun, and a refreshing change in the sea of GTA clones. It was very over the top but that's part of what made it awesome. I liked, as someone mentioned, to frisk random people and find all sorts of shit on them.
In the New york one I was randomly frisking people a Old Lady Pulled a SMG out and killed the store clerk I hauled ass out
I remember, my friend lent it to me once. I've played it quite a bit. I liked the shootouts with the cover system, looked kinda cool and the martial arts fight were funny. These bums were so goddamn annoying.
That game looks so much worse than I remembered. Disappointment setting in.
Pretty much what I was going to say.. I remember when I played it a long time ago I thought it looked fucking great..
And you got to fight [sp] A FUCKING DRAGON [/sp].
Quite hard indeed. Sad thing is I didn't complete the game....In a sense. [sp]You get a ending where you get pushed off the edge and die, final boss was hard, obviously[/sp]
You're making me want to re-install this baby. But it has 4 fucking install disks. God damnit.
I thought this game was great. Yeah, it had some issues that were sometimes really annoying, but the action was still cool, the storyline was somewhat interesting, the cutscenes were great, the main character was pretty cool and the fact that it had like 3 different endings was awesome.
Shit I don't remember the graphics being that bad, though I still love it though. Fucking rampaging through LA and shooting all the baddie's tires out in slow motion was a blast.
All I really remember about this game was the House of Wu mission. Shit was fucked up.
My mom came in my room and saw me fighting strippers, she then left and looked at me weird for the rest of the week. This game is awesome, I wish I still had it.
I remember playing this for hours on end. It was pretty good, going back to it the car handling was laughable though. I also remember it being special because of the alternate endings, which I worked to get all of... One of which was about halfway through the game so if you didn't know about the options you'd miss the development of the story (I think you die in a fight in Chinatown or you kill/catch some guy who you believe to be the main boss.) and they all ended with similar voiceovers I think. Chinatown shootout, Runway chase and a rooftop helipad or something? However, I genuinely can't remember the plot branch with the supernatural stuff, I definitely did it but it's just blank.
