• (Spoilers Ahead) Question about GLaDOS in Portal 2

Is GLaDOS aware that her personality is from Caroline, Cave Johnson's assistant, or is she unaware?
Well, by the end of Portal 2 she has realized that Caroline is a part of her, acting like a consicence. She claims at the very end to delete Caroline, and from then on she seems to act the same as in Portal (as seen in Co-Op), where she didn't realize she had Caroline, which is enough proof that she probably did delete her. So, to explain it easier: Caroline is part of GLaDOS that she noticed in Portal 2 and apparently deleted at the end. And sorry for all the major spoilers, by the thread title I assumed that spoilers are allowed without spoiler tags here.
I think if she kept Caroline she would have this idea in her to leave the facility.
I think if she kept Caroline she would have this idea in her to leave the facility.
I doubt it, GLaDOS can't really leave and she doesn't want to. Caroline doesn't control GLaDOS, Caroline influences her. Think of it this way, Caroline is described as being like a conscience and does your conscience control what you do? No, it influences your decisions.
The way she acted before deleting Caroline was rather friendly indeed, expressing relief for Chell's wellbeing, and realising that who she thought was her greatest enemy was actually her best friend. Kinda heartwarming, even though she shortly murdered what remained of Caroline by deleting her. Pity she did that, I would've simply poured her into a separate core, let her "live" outside of GLaDOS. But I guess that just isn't GLaDOS' way, in the end.

Caroline would be trying to influence her to leave or to end all of this stuff. Remember how Caroline was telling Cave she didn't want to do "this."
GLaDOS would do that, she'd probably just throw the core into an Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator immediately afterwards though.
Well, all Aperture Science equipment remains safe at up to 4,000 degrees Kelvin, so GLaDOS says. I would think that the core would survive given that the companion cube did, too.

I personally don't think Glados deleted Caroline. In the 'I want you gone' song, she does say that "Now Little Caroline is in here too." There's also the fact that even when you delete something in a computer, it still exists. If you think about it, Glados is very-human like as an AI. There was probably a lot of connections that helped her figure out she was Caroline. She cannot delete all those connection without deleting some parts of her. It was also made clear that Caroline was forced to become Glados, since Cave basically forced his workers to put her in charge, and thus, put her into a computer. ( "I want you to put Caroline in charge. She'll probably say no because she's modest like that, put force her to do it, I don't care)

And it's been said before by GLaDOS herself that Caroline is not GLaDOS she is a part of GLaDOS.

And it's been said before by GLaDOS herself that Caroline is not GLaDOS she is a part of GLaDOS.
Well, technically, she misses Chell during the COOP part. She also acts very condescending toward the robots because she knows they can't really fight back. During the Chapter 4 where she tries to get them to kill each other, she says at the end that this was all a test (Her lies and her trying to spread them apart) if they knew what trust was, and she says that "Their brains were too small to comprehend such terms so she could count 100% on them". So somehow, I'm sure that Caroline is in her, deleted, muted or not.
I don't think she misses Chell, it was even stated by Valve that GLaDOS realized that a robot cannot replace a human as a test subject and (THIS SPOILS THE END OF CO-OP) [sp]which is why she sends Atlas and Pbody to go to the human vault to get more test subjects[/sp]

She says the robots needs to save humans, when really she just needs more test subjects, so I don't know if Caroline acted on this or she just lied for no apparent reasons.

She doesn't say Chell's name but she says how one out of every million humans is a "monster" and who do we know is often called a "monster" by GLaDOS?

Even when she lets you go, laughing (I think it was an honest laugher) she calls you a monster
