Alien Swarm - Constantly timing out, massive pings everywhere, what the fuck?

Okay, surprisingly, AS runs fine on high ping, I didn't know I had a high ping until someone pointed it out [i]right near the end of our entire game[/i].

I was amazed, but now, I'm wondering, why is it so high? I went on an English server hosted in my bloody town, and I still got 200+ pings.

What's going on there? Everyone else's has been below 100.

Second thing, I keep timing out.

It's only after I started AS up for the second time has it been doing this.

Constant time outs, 9/10 times (tested 30, only 3 games let me in, what the fuck?), and when I got into a fourth game I fucking lost connection?

This happened on about 6 other games I managed to get into too, I lost connection for no reason.

So, now:

-Why the fuck am I losing connection and timing out in/loading times?
-Why is my ping always above 200 no matter where it's hosted?
