Verdun is a fps set during the great war. its made by Blackmill Games/M2H Offical homepage: http://www.verdungame.com/ Direct link to the game: http://beta.verdungame.com/ Gamemodes Squad based The main game mode allows players to experience true trench warfare. The game map is divided into many small sectors which can be captured by either side. This creates a real time moving frontline where every captured meter counts. Deathmatch A traditional free-for-all game mode. The free-for-all gameplay is set up to be seamless, the enemies will keep coming! There's no space after the /video part of the tag? Also you have to use the raw youtube link, no embedded shit.
im pretty sure the tags are media /media thats what i used anyway
Wait you can be 500 players online at once?
Wait you can be 500 players online at once?
imagine the mic spam 400 twelve year olds calling everyone a fag because they get fucked up by actual players.
imagine the mic spam 400 twelve year olds calling everyone a fag because they get fucked up by actual players.
Seems to be 16 max. Aww.
Holy shit that moustache is glorious.
Still better than COD
No trench foot simulation -1/10
I want a ww1 game that's advertised like spec ops the line was. But when you play it it has very little actual fighting and the entire game you're going insane from disease, PTSD, and not knowing where the next shell will hit. Or a WW1 game where you play as an ottoman under Mustafa Kemal in Galipoli.
But does it have tanks?
But does it have tanks?
Not for now but maybe in the future? its still in really early beta.
Get in we need more players! :D
Been waiting for this for years, my friend told me it had finally been released, on a new website a few weeks back. Though, I'm still perplexed at why they switched websites, especially to one without a forum. Oh, and The Trench: 1916 is going to be pretty awesome. been waiting for that for a while.
imagine the mic spam 400 twelve year olds calling everyone a fag because they get fucked up by actual players.
They'd be on an entirely separate console playing in a separate time period in a separate game series.
Aw no rebindable controls.
played a match, it was p.sweet thanks for sharing OP
Does it have trench digging? Shellshock? Enemy German shit seeping downhill into your trenches?
Enter Sabaton; "War does not determine who is right, only who is left" - Bertrand Russel
Enter Sabaton; "War does not determine who is right, only who is left" - Bertrand Russel
That song always sends shivers down my spine.
That song always sends shivers down my spine.
I know! Ah Sabaton, the only band that could ever make a song about Simo Hayha that can live up to his standard.
Just gave the game a try. It's a little clunky, and the map I played was a pure stalemate (so realistic) but there's a lot of potential here. Does anyone know how you unlock the machine gun for the squad?
Its a fun little game, a little easy on my part though considering the rifles are usually 1 hit kill if you hit them in the right spot. I'm excited to see more development progress on this and will definitely keep this on my list of games to keep an eye on.
Its a really fun game imo. Just lack the players, so its really boring just sitting in the lobby and just wait.
A bit of news.
Next Verdun Beta update will contain some cool new content! Expect a standalone version with HD graphics, map update, custom input and NCO artillery!
They expect this to be released by the end of the week.
This looks really awesome, Especially after finishing a WW1 report at school and knowing way too much about the war, Ill be keeping a eye on this. Edit: So the game has finally finished downloading/loading, Now i cant find anyone to play with? Ive been sitting her for five minutes in what i think is the lobby? Edit 2: And now my browser has crashed... And ive got to reload the game again? Fuck it took like half a hour last time and its going at just above the speed it was last time. Why isnt there a program?

I just played some sort of early 1914 mode with the French wearing Red/Blue 19th century guard clothes and the Germans all wearing their iconic pick-helmet.
I just played some sort of early 1914 mode with the French wearing Red/Blue 19th century guard clothes and the Germans all wearing their iconic pick-helmet.
There's a really wonky gear progression system in squad mode evidently that forces you to start out in early war uniforms and work your way up. I can't wait until they get more proper weapons and animations in place, the Poilus lugging around MG08/15s really irks me, but it's a beta so whatever. I'm honestly surprised this has made it to any sort of publicly released state. I've been following every Great War related video game announced for the past few years like a hawk; barring strategy games like Commander: Great War and Squad Battles: First World War, this is the only real offering for a Great War action game since Battlefield 1918. It's quite the troubling pattern that most of these projects are undertaken by unmotivated, unfocused dev teams and usually spiral into development hell a few months after announcement (The Trench 1916, The Somme, WWI: Source and various other mods, etc). This game needs a lot of polish before it can get anywhere. It's got all the potential in the world behind it, but the devs really need to know what they're doing. Personally I think using the unity engine was a horrible idea, although apparently a "standalone" version has been announced so we'll see what that amounts to. It's nice that they're not getting caught up in all the misconceptions and ignorance that usually keep development teams away from the Great War. Grenades are important and machine guns are behaving like they should. They need to work to encourage teamwork a bit more, the map design can be pretty unrealistic at times (still perpetrating that whole blasted muddy wasteland notion to a much too extreme degree, trench layouts are hit and miss).
