I plan of getting a DS for my birthday, and I wanted to know the must have DS games. I already plan on getting HeartGold, and probably N+, too. Anybody else have any games I should get? Dsiware, too, if you know any good ones.
Super Mario 64 (Ds version)
I've posted a huuuge list before, let me get it.
copy pasted my post from this thread but:

N Plus
Dragon Ball Origins
The Urbz - Sims in the City
Another Code - Two Memories
Lost in the Blue
Geometry Wars Galaxies

drawn to life was bad, basically bad mario clone
scribblenauts I think its called, pretty good.
It's good for the first few hours
then it's just meh.
Thanks for the huge list, certainly helps my decisions. I forgot that I also wanted The World Ends With You.
oh yeah, completly forgot about Animal Crossing. I haven't played it for like 1-2 years. Good game too.
Animal Crossing :v:
If you can get interested in it, this game will suck a good half a year out of your life.
Thanks for the huge list, certainly helps my decisions. I forgot that I also wanted The World Ends With You.
The World Ends With You is an amazing game. Definitely a must buy.
If you can get interested in it, this game will suck a year out of your life.
fixed
lol Ashzu Yu-Gi-Oh!? OP would need to know how to play his cards right to enjoy it.
are you going to get the 3ds?
Not too interested in the 3ds, I pan on getting the DsiXL
/Bighands
When does the 3ds release anyways?
I think for America it's around march 2011, for Europe/Australia it should be 1-2 months later.

Yu-Gi-Oh! on the DS was pretty good. Story sucks ass, but gameplay is good.

Even if you're not such a big fan of puzzles this game will literally have you hooked.
I'd also recommend the Mario and Luigi game series, such as Brothers in Time and Bowsers Inside Story.
I would personally wait until next year and get the 3ds, but I enjoyed Rune Factory (it's a spin off of Harvest Moon, it has monsters and swords and shit).
Almost anything from what ashzu posted, and SMT: Strange Journey or Devil survivor.
Professor Layton games, Any of them. I have pandora's box and it's AMAZING.
I haven't played my DS in years since it broke, but i swear to god people lower their standards for games just because it's on a handheld. N+ is't worth it. It's a really hasty and shoddy game.
All of the Phoenix Wright games are top-notch and worth every penny, and Professor Layton is equally brilliant.

Amazing? maaaaaybe. Must buy? no.
Don't get me wrong, it's definately one of the best JRPG's ever made and it's a damn good game, but it's not really something everyone would enjoy or like. The storyline is okay, the gameplay is fairly good, the atmosphere is unique, and the presentation is like none other. But most people wouldn't like it because it's too unique, and mostly not in a good way. And most of the memes from the game are dated enough now to not really be relevant.
so zetta slow?
Although I hate JRPG's, it liked it.
Okay maybe not "amazing" but imo it's one of the best DS games out there.
One of the only games I played from start to finish, using every minute of my spare time to play it.
The majority of DS games suck though. Either poorly made or just boring.
Almost anything from what ashzu posted, and SMT: Strange Journey or Devil survivor.
Get Devil Survivor. Strange Journey wasn't half as interesting.
[editline]08:00AM[/editline]
Don't get any Harvest Moon DS games. Get Rune Factory instead.
No HM game has been able to live up to Friends of Mineral Town for me. Damn thing sucked up a good year and a half of my life.
[editline]08:01AM[/editline]
Also Dementium Ward 2 should be coming out. The gun-play is a little clunky, but the atmosphere is well done for a DS game.
[editline]08:03AM[/editline]
Etrian Odyssey is good if you're into old school RPGs. Drawn your own maps, and order a bunch of mute teens/tweens to run around and kill stuff.
Is Zelda Spirit Tracks no good?
My friend said Spirit Tracks is a really fun game. I've never played it though.
Get Devil Survivor. Strange Journey wasn't half as interesting.

Devil Survivor sucked dick. Strange Journey was superb.
And The World Ends With You is a horrible game as well.
Also, Dementium 2 has been out for a long while. A good game.
Is Zelda Spirit Tracks no good?
Eh, it's alright. Phantom Hourglass was a lot better.
I heard that Phantom Hourglass wasn't too good either, I'll have to try it out
Spirit tracks no
No fucking no
worst game fucking EVER
also get dragon quest 9

no
Is Zelda Spirit Tracks no good?
Can't really tell. I haven't even gotten past the first 30 minutes without doing something else. I'll have to get back to that.
Though I've played a lot of great games on the DS, only a fraction of them held my attention long enough to finish it.
Games I've finished in no order. Highly recommended in italics and underlined. (some may be like 70's - 80's for reviewers, but I think they're great):
FF Crystal Chronicles games (Nice deviation from regular turn based FF games.)
Professor Layton (Both of them, eagerly awaiting third)
Megaman Starforce games (Beat first and third, goes 3>1>2. Black Ace is for the k00l kids, Red Joker looks a lot cooler to me)
Megaman ZX games (May not be your cup of tea, I loved it)
POKEMON GAMES (self-explanatory)
The World Ends With You (Loved it, again may not be your cup of tea if you HATE EVERYTHING JAPANESE/JRPG (then why did you buy a DS?). Will be worth it if you can get over faggy skinny Japanese tweens)
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (Get this game. Lovely art style, great atmosphere and mush)
Phoenix Wright (All of them, no real preference. Great games, may be best DS series. Holds it's own against Pokemon in my book. 2nd has worst and best cases in the series.)
Dementium: The Ward (Great atmosphere. Awaiting the second.)
Advance Wars: Duel Strike (Phuck yer Advance Wars. Not for you if you have the brain capacity of a 6 year old and just generally suck at games and life. If so I spit on you. PUTOO)
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (Great, cute game. Overlooked by many. Loved it, nice break away from GRRR TESTOSTERONE GRITTY BRROWN SUPER SERIAL. One of the first DS games I've played)
GTA: Chinatown Wars (Top-down. Deal drugs. Smoke weed eerday. (You can't actually do drugs in the game))
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Woop woop it's cel-shaded Link. If it doesn't come off as appealing as Windu Waika then as Shigeru Miyamoto put it WELL ROU DONTU KNOW WHATTU ROU RIKE!)
Animal Crossing (You can't finish the game, can you?)
Metroid Prime Hunters (Best DS FPS I've seen. CoD is okay, "realism" doesn't do well on the DS.)
Elite Beat Agents (You ain't no man till you beat the game on Divas. Spinners are gay.)
Trauma Center (Both games. Touching, in both sad and happy ways. Now you can dream of being a famous six figure surgeon that has time control powers, but not really be one.)
Mario Kart DS (Great with friends.)
Kirby Squeak Squad/Superstar Ultra (Great if you're into Kirby games.)
Super Mario 64 (BACK IN TIME, GOTTA GO BACK IN TIME)
Custom Robo Arena (One of the best action games you can get for the DS)
Good/great games I've never finished (Doesn't mean they're worse than the ones in the top list, some of them are equal or even better. I just never got around to finishing them.):
Chrono Trigger (Lots of replayability, pretty long.)
Etrian Odyssey games (Old skool up in dis shit. In game battle system turn based and is you facing the enemy, so you only see pictures of them. You don't see your teammates. Refer to my previous post for more info.)
FFIII/IV (Final Fantasy, okay?)
Mario & Luigi games (Turn based Mario game (no one cares about Luigi)).
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games (Dungeon style Pokemon game, what's not to love?)
Disgaea DS (Unorthodox as unorthodox gets.Turn based RPG. Highest level 9999, unknown max damage. Some people broke a lot of billions.)
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (Great game, turn based FF. Some nice combos will make an awesome team. Best game on this list IMO)
Em... Luminous Arc 1&2 (Not recommended for you, only good for a specific audience, mainly weeaboo shit-heads and people who don't really mind. I fall into the latter category. Includes it's own tiny anime dating sim. Now you can dream to be a sweaty Japanese loser, and actually sort of become one! Third one is coming out, better gameplay and more dating sim is to be expected.)
Castlevania games (Fucking shit is difficult as FUCK.)
Chibi-Robo Park Patrol (Dawww it's so cute running around spreading rainbow flowers.)
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (Never got past first 30 minutes, so I don't really know anything about it. Hey it's Zelda.)
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (Good action game, DS really lacks them.)
Pfft... Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (Hahahahahahahahaha. Not good if you're a homophobe. /v/'s wiki puts it as "a quirky game where you take control of everyone's favorite little faggot, Tingle.")
Rhythm Heaven (WAH WAH WAHHHHH WAHHHH WAH WAHHHHHHH WAHHHHH)
Rune Factory games (Better than the mediocre Harvest Moon DS games Natsume managed to put out, I'll say.)
Super Mario Bros. (It's Mario, okay?)
Scribblenauts (Fun game, kinda repetitive unfortunately. It's not about imagination when a few items can be used again and again to beat every level.)
Drawn to Life (Draw a boob for a sun, and penis plants. That's what a did, anyway.)
Devil Survivor games (Survive devils and shit. Control demons. Turn based. Battle system like Etrian Odyssey's.
Yu-Gi-Oh games (Good if you still enjoy some good old Yu-Gi-Oh. Newest game take place during 5D's, which I personally like but many others hate.)
[editline]09:26AM[/editline]
That was tiring. I'll go take a nap.
[editline]09:28AM[/editline]

No how could you
All three statements are like a sucker punch to the nuts. I'll go cry in the corner now.
Wow! Thanks a lot for the list, pretty awesome stuff
