Ok, i'm getting pissed off. I was just at the bottom of the map in Minecraft alpha the absolute bottom and i was there for 30 mins plus digging... NO DIAMONDS!!! I mean wtf??? I found the Redstone ore things but thats it and its getting ridiculous. Any help appreciated.
Diamonds are quite rare, keep digging.

It is a good series of threads how did you miss it?
They're pretty common in deep caves compared to randomly, Try using the Cartographer to find nearby caves and dig towards them
I read somewhere that they're a bit more common around lava, not sure if that's true though.

Dig a little higher. I think the average spawning height was around 15 blocks above the bottom.
Also, explore deep caves instead of digging tunnels.
I have 5 64 stacks of diamonds, a 3x2 doorway garnished with diamond blocks, and all my tools and armor are made of diamond minus my iron spares. Although, I have been playing that save for aaaagggggeeessss
