Battleships Forever
Introduction Battleships Forever is a freeware tactical Real Time Strategy game that put's you in command of a small fleet of warships in space. Combat and damage mechanics are extremely detailed. Everything is simulated in game if possible. There are no abitrary "to hit chance" values in Battleships Forever. The game also features many innovative mechanics that you've never seen before. For example, the Cronus Battleship sports a Flux Shield generator that allows you to draw a defensive force shield around your ships in any shape you want. Another example are the Deflector modules that are used extensively through the game. These modules make a single section of a ship totally invulnerable to fire. This means that you will have to manoeuvre your ships to attack sections of the enemy ships not protected by Deflectors while keeping your own protected sections facing the enemy. Position is paramount! Players will command picked fleets made up of Battleships, Destroyers and Patrol Craft. The completed game will include ten campaign missions and multiple skirmish modes. Battleships Forever is inspired by and loosely based on Warning Forever by Hikoza.T.Ohkubo. Your ships can be controlled to drift in one direction while facing another direction for strafing attacks. Each section of your ship is an object on it's own. If a section is destroyed, any child sections that were connected to the core of your ship through that section will also be destroyed. This section-based modular ship system makes positioning very important. Take the Hestia-Class Assault Destroyer for example; It's sections and weapons are swept forward allowing it to concentrate it's fire to the front. At the same time, the Hestia is vulnerable to rear attacks which can destroy it's wing's connection strut, thus destroying the entire wing in one blow. There are 17 playable ships available:

Cronus Battleship
Peitho Armoured Battlecruiser
Hecate Dreadnought

Athena Advanced Dreadnought

Arcas Carrier
Hestia Assault Destroyer

Hestia Alpha

Enyo Cruiser
Oenone Beam Destroyer

Oenone Delta

Helios PointDefence Destroyer
Tmolus Bombardier
Moira Torpedo Destroyer

Moira X

Proteus Gunship
Zelus Attack Boat
Thetis Drone Carrier
In the campaign and skirmish modes, you will face more than fifty types of enemy craft! About the Weapons Each turret is individually articulated and has its own firing arc, range, turning speed and health. Turrets can be individually destroyed in order to de-tooth an enemy. Beams will even rake across the enemy ship's hull, tracing out a trail of destruction. Individual turrets can even be targeted and sniped off. Active defences are also a major part of your tactics in Battleships Forever. Many ships are equipped with interceptor turrets that shoot down incoming projectiles. Maximizing your interceptor coverage to nullify enemy firepower is the key the victory. Epic game. The editor is amazing.
It was a pretty fun game a while back and it still is now actually, the ship builder is pretty fun to use once you get the hang of it. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] Oh and so people know, i'm running on Windows 7 64 Bit and works perfectly for me, so i'm assuming that means it should work perfectly for everyone else.
I still spend hours on this game daily, It's fucking incredible.
Is it worth downloading , If I've bought "Gratuitous space battles"?
I used to play this, but was totally turned off by all the amazing creations some players make. My ships aren't nearly as impressive and honestly it does get boring after a while loading up a battle scene just to watch explosions.
I play zis.
Is it worth downloading , If I've bought "Gratuitous space battles"?
Well it's a free game for one so that's already great considering i would easily pay for this game.
Oh man, recent years nostalgia.
Is it worth downloading , If I've bought "Gratuitous space battles"?
The only thing this and GSB have in common is the view and the fact they have space ships in them. So yes, Definitely.
The only thing this and GSB have in common is the view and the fact they have space ships in them. So yes, Definitely.
In this game, bits of the ship blow off.
And in this you can control the ships like you would do with units in an RTS Game.
Played the tutorial mission so far, seems pretty good actually.
Thanks for reminding me about this game.
This isn't going on the second page already, come on.
Keep this front-paged.
Epic game but the community is god awful.
I tend not to interface with the community.
Community is full of a bunch of no-lifes that spend hours making some huge overpowered spaceship and then give it a backstory that's been ripped from 20 sci-fi novels and then gets pissy when anybody creates anything similar. :v:
and then they rip on you for using the stock tileset and not the fancy user made ones.
I used to play this, going to redownload now. And yeah the community is horrible.
I actually got temporary banned for apparently not putting enough effort into a ships design.
I actually got temporary banned for apparently not putting enough effort into a ships design.
So basically you got banned for not having Autism and spending 3 days designing a ship and writing a super serious business backstory to it. Also haven't there been any new updates? I remember that they were talking about a BSF2 about 2 years ago.
I make ships like a pro. No srs I just make a cool framework and add a bunch of FRICKIN' LASER BEAMS. Or gun turrets or whatever.
Any mods for ship parts? [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] My very basic ship.

I remember the first ship I ever built for this back in 07.
Hell, you'd probably get banned for that too. [editline]26th April 2011[/editline] And not just because it is basically a planet's defense without the planet.
