I download alien swarm twice and every time I start the game it increase the size of the desktop then the screen goes white and the icon for the game is a blank page

Right click on your game and look for the properties. In there you should see something like startup options or something. (it will warn you it is for advance users only) type -sw in that bar.
ok i did that but now another tab opens but the screen is white
What are your system specs?
Try -autoconfig
Use the -w <screen width> and -h <screen hight> launch options to make Alien Swarm launch in your monitor's native resolution. For example, I would use -w 1280 -h 1024 if I had this problem.
