• why hasnt valve done anything to dods?

pretty much, the game appears to be in beta (fuck it, i will clear this up a bit) dod is a very good game. it can be very difficult,but every kill feels like a reward. but honestly, it cant be that hard for them to update the game! all they need to do is 1: add mapping to every texture edit: this is what mapping can do [url]http://www.3dkingdoms.com/nmap.jpg[/url] [url]http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Normal_Map[/url] 2: make it so that soldiers are entirely made of bodygroups (basicly, you will never see the same soldier twice (if you do, you wont remember the last time you saw him)) [url]http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Body_Groups[/url] 3: add a tf2 item system (so someone can have a mg34 instead of a mg42,nothing to radical) 4: possibly add more armys IT CANT BE THAT HARD! this is a joke that they havent done anything

Maybe its because they know it won't sell well, that genre is pretty stuffed full of CoD and Medal of Honour games, I don't think DoD:S even comes close to those

Dods is not popular enough. And not fun enough either.
Valve should add the British Army from DOD1.3

Valve would never do this because all of this would require so much work that it would not halt, but atleast delay even more of Valve's work

The only half-decent idea is # 4. They should add the Japs and the Soviets and make the Americans fight the Japs and the Soviets fight the Nazis. Yeah, it's basically what Cod:WaW was but Soviets + Americans vs Germans doesn't seem fair. And no, it wouldn't be too difficult, seeing as it's Valve we are talking about.

Soviet Team = Twice as large as German Team. Every Class is capped, except "Conscript", which has no gun, he has to find one in the field to use.

I think they should at least add bots to the game. Playing with bots can be more fun than playing with actual people.
The game is fairly old and it's not their most popular Source engine game.

DoD:S IS a very fun game, the only reason why Im not playing it often is anymore cuz the gameplay actually repeats and repeats and repeats. You have a selection of one weapon for every class there isnt much variation. They could atleast have added phong and specular shaders to the weapons, now they have such a nice engine and dont even use their abilities.
I really like playing Dod, but it seems that Dod is a lost cause for valve.
I personally think DoD:S could have been a huge hit for valve if they hadn't practically half-assed the original release. Source was such a let down for me after I had looked forward to something more awesome than the epicness that was 1.3 for so long.
