• Bioshock retail, autopatcher

I have bought the original bioshock from a retail store. After the main installation is complete, a new windows shows up, "Bioshock Auto Patcher", and tries to connect. It will never connect, and i cant find any help on how to make it work. I have uninstalled AVG, tried to install in safe mode with internet, and closed down everything that is supposed to use the internet, but it still wont connect. I really want to play the game, so do anyone know how to bypass this/make it work? I searched for it, and didnt find anything, and sat an hour on google trying to figure out a way to make it work...
download the standalone patch from their website.
When i try to stop the autopatcher, it removes the files from my hard drive... Should i install it when the autopatcher is running?
Uhm... No. Just install the patch from the offical site.
The problem is that the installation never finishes... It wont install anything from the autopatcher, and if it doesnt, the installation cancels! [editline]02:11PM[/editline] I aint trying to patch the game, im trying to install it...
I had this exact problem too. The problem is that it's trying to connect to the DRM servers to check if your version is legit. It never will because they took the servers down a LONG time ago. The way i got it to work was to let it get as far as install the game files, canceling the process in task manager, finding a cracked exe, putting it in the game folder and running the game with that. At least, that's how i did it. Didn't know there was a DRM patch.
Where did you find the folder?
Where did you find the folder?
Can't remember now, sorry. Are you XP or 7? Also, if you try running it with a legit exe (from the install) that hasn't been patched by their servers it just give you a DRM error about it being the wrong cd/dvd. Hence the cracked exe. Their DRM patch might do something about that. Go research.
Im 7... And thanks.
And this is why DRM sucks. It's hurting the legitimate customer years later. :sigh:
