I have been interested in this since i saw the first gel video in portal 2. now we have the engine and I belive it is possible, there is just one problem. I can map and create the levels for this mod, however creating the weapon and other elements of the mod is completely beyond me. I'm sure we could get a team together to create an awesome mod
If you think you could help then send a PM my way and I will try to reply
Just make a Portal 2 map pack focused on gels, they aren't interesting enough on their own, especially as you'd only be able to use 2.
Sticky Gel doesn't exist, which really would be a necessity for a Tag mod.

I assume new gels can be created? Simply a re-colour and some code changes would do the job, no?
I'm pretty sure we don't have Portal 2's SDK yet so
You will get the tools, not the code.

I read that in Cave Johnson's voice.
I think it would be awesome if Valve let us code our own gels for our campaigns. Anyway, isn't it possible just with Hammer? As a few people made gels in the Portal 2 collab.
This all depends on how moddable Portal 2 ends up being but I completely support this. Another idea I have is that if we could make a mod based in Aperture Science during the 60s and you're a test subject using the gun that shoots the gels they developed, including the sticky gel if it could be made, but that's just an idea.
(I got the idea from when I heard Valve originally wanted to make a prequel to Portal instead of Portal 2 without the portal mechanics)
Valve should add the TAG paint gun to Portal 2 with the SDK so that we can make maps with it.
More than possible with the amount of shit squirrel exposes.
Retoast from the "ideas guy" thread-
I want a game based on portal, but with the paint gun from TAG - Power of Paint.
Featuring the Aperture Science Modular Liquid Distribution Rifle!
The primary fire sprays gel, secondary cycles to modes. The modes are-
Repulsion Gel - The blue gel from portal 2. Allows you to jump higher then normal, or bounce off of walls.
Propulsion Gel - The orange gel from portal 2. Allows you to accelerate to great speeds.
Adhesion Gel - A new, green gel. Allows you to stick to walls/ceilings/floors by crouching. When you stop crouching, you fall off.
Erosion Gel - Also known as "water". Washes off the other gels.
The idea is that you have to solve test using the gels. I'll try to get an example together.

Okay, let's get some visual aids.
Below is our test chamber and test subject. Let's call him Brock. HE IS ABSOLUTLEY NOT, BY ANY MEANS, BASED ON A CHARACTER TRADEMARKED BY CAPCOM™

Now, Brock's first instinct, like any example, is to run at the goal like a madman.

Now the same test, except Brock now has a Aperture Science Modular Liquid Distribution Rifle!

After painting the landscape that is his chamber with the easel that is his ASMLDR, Brock has conquered this test!

Any questions?

pretty much yeah
Compulsion Gel is a better name than Adhesive Gel imo, because you can then called them Propulsion Emulsion, Compulsion Emulsion and Propulsion Emulsion :D

Makes somewhat less sense, but I do like it.
Ok I guess this is a project just for me then
well I will probably not post anything until I can actually start with the official SDK
