http://www.stellaralchemy.com/lee/virtual_creatures.php This is a kickin' rad program. It's not really a game, but this type of thread doesn't seem to fit in General Discussion. So, this game is about evolving creatures. It's not a do-it-yourself game, but you do get to choose what the creatures have to adapt to, whether it be bumpy hills or flat plains. This isn't the kind of game you can do in a day, you will have to leave it on over night for several days for anything interesting to happen. The way this works is you set parameters for the creatures, such as how many evolved generations they will go through, what they will have to do (like traverse bumpy hills, move across plains, or even just a jumping test to see how high they jump), and various other miscellaneous things. The creatures evolve by adding and removing cube-shaped limbs in order to find a better way to fulfill their tasks, and also have "brains" that are coded based on what kind of creature they are in order to decide what to do with their limbs. It's very interesting to see what you can create. Right now I am running a 600 generation evolution, the tasks are, in order, traversing across plains for 150 generations, traversing across bumpy terrain for 150 generations, attempting to walk across plains for 150 generations, and then jumping for 150 generations, where it will then end and produce a final population of evolved creatures. Also, check out this creature that some lucky man happened to have as an end-result:
Like a 3d version of the other evolution game, with weird things wobbling around?
This program is at its finest when you just make a few legs on a block, but that's about as far as it goes. I guess its alright when you just mess around.
That actually looks pretty cool, seeing as how Spore lied about "creatures evolving itself."

No, the 2d was one with like microscopic things in water and a bunch of food, but the food could run out and if a creature dies, it turns into food.

I prefered the 2d one (darwin pond i think it was called) since they seemed to have more comprehendable shapes. These are just a few primatives pressed together. just dosent feel the same... Wait no, Swimbots was the better version of darwin pond.
How about reading the How-To section of the website? :downs:
I still could not get anything to happen, just a big flat square of land. It's just as well, this doesn't seem like a game that would occupy my time for too long.
