How does Xbox 360 games look so smooth compared to PC games?

I've always wondered how games on the Xbox360 look alot smoother and softer than on games on the PC. For instance, take Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. It looks smooth on the console (although low res textures) and if i'm not mistaken, it runs at around 600p natively. I also run Modern Warfare 2 on my PC at 1080p with High settings, and there are noticeably more jaggies on the PC version. My TV and my PC monitor are relatively the same size, around the 27 inch mark.
I do remember reading an article about how all Xbox 360 games have a mandatory 2x AA, but still even with 2x AA on PC, it still has a noticeably more amount of jaggies.
Anyone have any reasoning for this?
Because the resolution is smaller and you're not as close to the screen as a PC monitor

I am sitting as close to the TV as I am with the monitor. Wouldn't a lower resolution cause more jaggies on the screen?
Because the games are optimized specifically to run on the console. And the console is dedicated to gaming, no background tasks
because xbox is better

He said it better than I could
TVs don't come close to PC resolutions.

also this. an xbox is just a giant graphics card.
Because the human eye can't detect fps over 32 unless undergoing an adrenaline rush, thats what my friend told me.
That's the difference between a TV and a monitor.

I thought it was 60.
Because the human eye can't detect fps over 32 unless undergoing an adrenaline rush, thats what my friend told me.
he's wrong
Hot damn! Then what is it?

The human eye does NOT see in fps.

well then, i was wrong too.
I'm talking about noticing a difference after 32 fps.

Your friend is an idiot. The eye doesn't see in frames, it sees in a continuous stream. There's a rate where the brain wont notice a difference but the number of frames per second (which has never been measured) can easily be well over 100 fps.
My eyes only get 30 FPS guys, I need new glasses.
Aslong as its about 45fps or higher im fine.
I can play with 15 fps without really caring since i used to have a shitty computer
Edge blurring. It's essentially the same thing as AA, but you get a more pronounced "vaseline smeared on a screen" look. Higher resolutions also need more AA to compensate for the "sharper" edges.

I lol'd. Only because it's true :d

Makes me sad.
What are specs, OP?
Eyes can see motion at about 120 FPS (theoretically, as eyes do not see in FPS like already mentioned) but in full colour it's about 40-70 FPS.
Also, consoles upscale output. And if you aren't using component or HDMI, the screen will be blurred so much that it looks "smoother".
Because the human eye can't detect fps over 32 unless undergoing an adrenaline rush, thats what my friend told me.
I'm pretty sure he meant refresh rate, and still no. Blu-Ray has 120 Refresh rate and look at THAT.

Unrelated Question: is the refresh rate the maximum frames a media can be displayed at?

Same here, I got a huge desk and my monitor and my TV are next to each other both wide screen and about same distance.
because xbox has more power!!!!

I was referring to the PS3 and Wii....
I dunno about you guys but the 360 really doesn't look better or smoother at all. It's just when you're playing any game you really don't notice every pixel that makes up every frame.

I still play most games with 15fps up to today. :colbert:
@bud: isn't it like
X360: Better GPU
PS3: Better CPU
not sure
and well, you can't really compare these 2 consoles to the wii.
@OP: you just took a bad game to compare, consoles is what IW had in mind, they fucked up on PC.
TV doesn't have as much DPI as a monitor does, which why the difference in cost and size is so much
30" monitors usually go up to 2560x1440 while much larger TV's are at 1920x1080.
